The heart of this Tissot beats thanks to the famous automatic movement caliber 28.5T-21. This caliber was produced between 1944 and 1953. What makes early bumper automatic watches so special is that the automatic rotor literally bumps against the springs while winding the mainspring. You can actually feel a unique sensation while wearing a bumper, which is a point of appeal for early bumper watch enthusiasts. These automatic movements with a bumper rotated approximately 180 degrees, while later automatic movements with a full/central rotor achieved a rotation of 360 degrees. The stainless steel case has an elegant shape with teardrop-shaped lugs and an original recessed crown. This Tissot has definitely seen some action, the dial with raised Tissot logo looks as if it has been to sunny origin’s, you might like the look, or prefer a something more pristine. It's all about personal taste, and it unmistakably gives the watch character. The acrylic crystal had a crackled texture, so we replaced it with a new old stock crystal with the same slightly domed shape. The Tissot has received a full service/overhaul, is lubricated in all the right places, it is tuned, adjusted and is keeping good time...

Marvin is an ancient brand dating back to 1850. It took the owners Marc and Emmanuel Didisheim another 43 years to officially registered the Marvin brand in 1893. The registration actually reads: ‘The Marvin Watch’ named after a wealthy American watch collector called Mr. Marvin, who was a huge fan, and very frequent buyer of their watches. The Marvin dates from the Art Deco period, the watch is sleek, smooth, and crisp with slightly sharp edges indicating it is in a superb unpolished condition. The case measures 40 mm long including the lugs, by 22 mm wide, which is a good gentleman’s size watch, even to today’s standards. The rectangular stainless-steel alloy case is signed ‘Staybrite’ on the inside, and signed ‘Everwhite’ on the outside, only done to confuse you ツ The sides and back of the case have a fine brushed surface, the rest of the case is glossy. The watch has the initials HL engraved on the back, it has been carried out with precision, and does not detract from the worth of the watch, rather the contrary it has given it more character, as the formal owner has clearly cherished the watch and kept it safe from damage. The dial is two-toned, separated by an ultra-fine line. The 12,3,6,9-hour numbers are full size, while the other hour numbers are slightly smaller and stretched. The watch hands are a beautiful shape, and definitely influenced by the Art Deco period. The watch hands are made of blue steeled which creates such stunning blue shades. The in-house high quality Marvin manual wind Swiss movement caliber 300 dates from 1936 according to the Classification Horlogère. Marvin is an underestimated watch brand that offers superb quality watches, but as with many things people tend to follow in the footsteps of others.
They are missing out on some real beauties, such as this sophisticated, timeless style watch.

New in store is this Seiko Chronograph Automatic from the 1970’s. It carries the ‘Made in Japan’, 17 jewels, legendary 6139B caliber automatic movement “Pogue”. Named after Colonel William Pogue, a NASA astronaut who presumably wore it to space in 1973. Presumably, because claims were made it wasn’t the case, but an eagle eye Seiko fan, sought out the truth and proved them wrong.

The 6139 caliber was launched in 1969. The 6139B (dates from 1972-1979) is the same as the 6139A but with a modified switching mechanism. The day & date can be quick-set by pushing in the crown either one or two detents. The movement has a so-called ‘Diashock’ anti-shock system, which consists of a three-prong clover shaped retainer (see close-up photo).
The period in which this watch was developed, was bold and colorful, things where either cool, chill or groovy. Frases as; catch my drift and right on, where used. Hippies where in, so where jeans with bell-bottoms, bikes with banana shapes seats and fringes, you hitched a ride wearing your platform shoes to the disco, or bare feet to the beach… anyhow it was an explosive time in so many ways, watches were produced in odd, weird shapes, there was a limitless range to choose from, and with the most striking outrageous color schemes.
I associated, like many others I presume that Seiko watches where a thing of the 1970’s, but nothing could be further from the truth. Seiko started out in 1881 when the then 21-year-old Kintaro Hattori opened his watch shop in Tokyo. He teamed up with Tsuruhiko Yoshikawa. Together they started out producing wall clocks, followed by pocket watches, old examples of Seiko pocket watches wore the name ‘Time Keeper’. And as with many watch companies they too soon realized that the future was to be found in wristwatches.
Seiko was to become one of the most important watch brands of the seventies…
This Seiko Chronograph Automatic dates from 1974, and it still has its original rally style stainless steel bracelet attached. I have a soft spot when it comes to these bracelets, some have cut out circles like this one, others have filled inserts that match the color of the dial, personally I prefer the open ones.
Truth be said, I wasn’t a Seiko fan, this is actually the very first Seiko to enter out webstore. But I have learned to appreciate their bold, daring, out of the box quirky looks, so they too deserve a space.

This ‘near mint’ Movado Sport watch is a gem. The Movado watch has an extraordinary case, a ‘Gold Cap’ is usually a thick evenly spread layer, but this gold layer consists of half of the lugs, a layer you will never wear through. Not surprising as it is signed FB - François Borgel case. François Borgel was considered one of the best suppliers of watch cases in Switzerland. You can hardly see the difference while wearing a solid gold, gilded or gold cap watch, but the price will make a difference especially with the current gold fever frenzy. The original crown has a lovely shape, and good grip. The original champagne colored two-tone dial is stunning. It has a striking detail, ‘17 jewels’ is printed onto the sub-second scale, see photo. The Swiss in-house manual wind Movado caliber 125 was launched in 1946, it not only looks amazing, it also offers high quality and reliability. The movement is extra protected by a dust cover. The acryl crystal is slightly domed, clear and unscratched. It has received a full overhaul; it has been cleaned, tuned, adjusted and is keeping good time. Sold with 1 year warranty.
What more can I say, it ticks a lot of boxes in my humble opinion.

This Marvin Hermetic, looks very similar to the other one in our webstore. We even added the same color strap, only a two-piece one in this case.
This part of the text goes for this Marvin as well:
“Marvin Hermetic refers to the tightly sealed construction of the case with the purpose of preventing fluids or damp to enter. These watches were often supplied with high-quality Swiss movements. This Marvin is powered by the manual wind in-house Swiss Marvin caliber 560 with sweep second hand, guaranteeing a smooth and continuous movement. The 560-caliber movement was launched in 1945. This high-quality Marvin also offers ‘Shock Absorption’ as stated on the dial.”
The only visible differences are; the slightly larger more traditional case shape and no two-tone dial.
It’s a steel for €595.- and if you pass by fast enough, no one will see the difference, but it will save you 155 euro 😁

Omega ‘Worldtime’ my heart skips a beat seeing such a magical instrument. I couldn’t think of a better watch for the holidays, although you might just want to escape or forget about the time altogether and enjoy the peace and quiet to a full. However, it is kinda fun to see all the time differences at a glance. Worldtime models are rare to come by.
The Omega watch company was founded in 1848 by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds. In 1880, they moved to its current location in Bienne, Switzerland. Surprisingly it took them 46 years to make the Omega name official.
Not only does the watch date from 1923, so does the movement. The Swiss Omega 40.6L T1 manual wind caliber was used until 1936, and in those 13 years a whooping ‘one million’ where produced. This says something significant about the incredible quality, reliability and durability of this stunning movement with Geneva striping. The porcelain dial is created with worldwide city names, plus the time corrections. Beginning at the 12 o’clock with Stockholm in red letters. The question arises whether these pocket watches where specifically for the Swedish market, as they all seem to begin with Stockholm. The fine watch hands are crafted in rose gold, in a Spade & Whip model. The dial is in stunning condition, the only barely noticeable thing I could find are two insignificant fleabites, one under Moskau, and the other after New York, only visible with a magnifying glass. The case measures 5 cm and is created in 800 silver - Grouse hallmarked on the cuvette and case cover. The only not silver part is the bow, as this needs to be a slightly more heavy-duty material to carry the weight of the pocket watch. The crystal is original and made of glass with a faceted rim and ever so slightly domed towards the middle. It’s still early days, but if you are going on a vacation or just relaxing around the house, whatever the case, why not have something within reach that makes pastime a bit more enjoyable, besides a little sunshine ☼
Oops! I almost forgot to mention ‘Erik’ the engraving at the back, bottom of the case. Does anyone know who Erik is?

The Wyler adventure began in 1924 when Victor and Paul Wyler founded the ‘Paul Wyler & Cie Watch Factory’ in Basel, six years later they renamed it Wyler Vetta. Three years after the founding of the company they introduced their new invention, the shock-resistant "Incaflex" balance wheel, which they patented in 1927. It was to become famous for its incomparable durability, they even went so far as to drop it off the Eiffel Tower in 1931 to prove their point, with the ‘Rachet’ model and with success! They did it again in 1956 with the Dynastar model. All a bit extreme, never the less, it attracted a lot of media attention.
Wyler was also known for its water-resistant properties. The story goes that Albert Einstein fell into the water in Central Park in America in 1944 while wearing his Wyler watch. The watch survived the plunge without any water seeping through. As a token of appreciation for the excellent quality of the Wyler watch, Albert Einstein wrote a letter to the Wyler company to thank them.
In the 1930s and 40s, Wyler was the quintessential sports watch, and many famous athletes owned a Wyler. Later, they also invested in sports car races such as the Mille Miglia, the legendary Italian endurance road race.
I can almost feel the train on the railroad tracks jerking you around, as you try and sit comfortably on your seat, maybe I’m out of touch regarding railroad travel.
No doubt you will not miss a train with is clearer than clear dial, which is in pristine condition. The watch hands have a lovely shape; they are made of blued steel which gives it the most amazing shades of blue.
The dial consists of a 12-hour black scale and a red 24-hour, it also reads ‘Railroad Approved’ and the word ‘Incaflex’ referring to the patented indestructible balance wheel inside. It isn’t an easy watch to open as it is a ‘monobloc’ which means you can only get access to the movement by lifting the crystal.
Every aspect is of the Wyler is original, the crown and crystal carry the ‘W’ logo. Only the soft cherry red canvas strap has been added.

Founded in 1892 the Hamilton Watch Company started out in Amerika, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to be exact. In 1969 they moved their firm to Bienne, Switzerland and became a Swiss manufacturer of wristwatches.
As with many watch manufacturers they started out with pocket watches, followed by Railroad watches. After WWI and during the WWII they moved their attention to wristwatches. They even went so far as to stop the production for civilians, and concentrate fully on the engendering of military and aviation watches, including marine chronometers and deck watches.
The Hamilton Watch Company created a perfect blend of Swiss precision and an American mentality, that was constantly on the lookout for new challenges, feeling the need to keep evolving and broaden their horizon.
In the 50’s they starred as the watch manufacturing powerhouse of America. Hamilton has been around since forever; they are to this day still manufacturing watches, not half as nice though ;)
This Hamilton has just the most spectacular case, check out the curve on those lugs, I bet you've never seen lugs like this. The case is glossy except for the sides of the case. The back is screwed down, and reads Hamilton, Anti-Magnetic, Shock-Resistant, Water-Resistant and Stainless Steel.
Though Hamilton produced their own in-house movements they did make exceptions. This high quality, reliable Swiss automatic wind movement with sweep second function caliber 661 is based on the Swiss Certina caliber 25 movement. The Swiss Hamilton 661 caliber was in use from 1951-1960. Every detail on this watch is original, only the strap is added, though it is unused and vintage.
The photo’s do not do the Hamilton justice, it looks absolutely stunning in real life...

1940’s Marvin Hermetic Watch.
Yet another handsome Marvin watch, a ‘Hermetic’ Marvin to be precise. Hermetic refers to the tightly sealed construction of the case with the purpose of preventing fluids or damp to enter. These watches were often supplied with high-quality Swiss movements. This Marvin is powered by the manual wind in-house Swiss Marvin caliber 560 with sweep second hand, guaranteeing a smooth and continuous movement. The 560-caliber movement was launched in 1945. This high-quality Marvin also offers ‘Shock Absorption’ and “Non-Magnetic’ features, as stated on the dial. Speaking of the dial, isn’t it stunning. The two-tone black/grey dial has aged beautifully, and the outer ring has lovely shaped luminated numbers, and the inner circle consists of seconds-scale, which is rather unusual. The second hand is lacquered in a deep red color. The stainless-steel case has rounded sides and a screw back cover. The case is glossy except for the sides of the tear-drop lugs. We added a Nato one piece strap which blends in nicely with the Marvin shades.

The story of Longines began in 1832 in Saint-Imier and has remained there ever since; Longines is still established there to this day. I fear I need not emphasize how famous, how unquestionably good and adorned the Longine brand is. So, I’ll leave the praise aside, and dive straight in on the watch before you. Don’t you just love those 1940’s watches with the bullseye dials and sub seconds, they have such character, wouldn’t you agree.
In this case the warm bronze/black two-tone dial has patinated so beautifully. Inside the smooth stainless-steel case lies the high-grade Swiss manual wind Longines 10.68Z. This caliber was launched in 1932. The movement features a Glucydur screw balance and is fitted with a blued steel flat hairspring. Glucydur is the trade name for an alloy compound consisting of copper and beryllium, it is used especially for its low sensitivity to thermal expansion. The name Glucydur is derived from glucinium, formal name for beryllium, and dur for durable.
Let’s not forget to mention that the case back is a ‘Sei tacche’ screw-down, I know, I just can’t help myself, there I go again emphasizing the obvious, it’s all the fault of the Italian collector who made up this nickname in the first place.
The watch still had an original Longines strap on it, so we reattached it after the complete overhaul that all our watches undergo before being sold to you. You also receive a 1-year warranty.
