🚨 New Watch Alert: Konstantin Chaykin SC02C Space Chronograph. 🧑🚀
🚀 TESTED IN OUTER SPACE. NOW AVAILABLE ON EARTH. 🌍️
At Ace Jewelers, we are proud to represent some of the most innovative and independent watchmakers in the world. Few embody that spirit better than Konstantin Chaykin, the award-winning Russian watchmaker whose creations consistently push the boundaries of mechanical horology.
Today, we are excited to introduce the Konstantin Chaykin SC02C, a remarkable chronograph born from a real-world space program and now released in an ultra-exclusive Limited Edition of just 28 pieces worldwide.
For most brands, "space-inspired" is a marketing term.
For the SC02C, space is reality.
Developed in close collaboration with Roscosmos, the SC02C traces its origins back to a mission-critical challenge: creating a mechanical chronograph capable of functioning during extravehicular activities. Since 2018, Konstantin Chaykin's Manufacture has worked continuously to develop and refine watches intended for use beyond Earth's atmosphere.
The journey began with the original Space Conqueror prototypes, which were sent to the International Space Station in 2021. One prototype was tested inside the station, while another accompanied cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky during spacewalks outside the ISS. Following detailed analysis of those missions, the chronograph was further refined and returned to space in 2022 with cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev.
Most recently, on 27 May 2026, cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergey Mikayev spent more than six hours outside the station equipped with next-generation Konstantin Chaykin space chronographs attached directly to their Orlan-MKS spacesuits.
In total, Konstantin Chaykin watches have now participated in four separate spacewalks, making the SC02C one of the very few mechanical wristwatches in modern horology with genuine EVA heritage.
The civilian SC02C brings that extraordinary experience to collectors while continuing the project's ongoing research. Owners are invited to wear their watches in everyday life, under demanding conditions, and provide feedback that may influence future generations of professional-grade space instruments.
⚙️ Built for Extremes
While the SC02C presents itself as a classic mechanical chronograph, every design decision serves a practical purpose.
Its highly legible black dial features oversized hands, luminous markers, a 12-hour rotating bezel, and anti-reflective sapphire crystal, all developed with the needs of professional cosmonauts in mind. The distinctive red-tipped hour hand, inspired by the Mars Conqueror series, improves readability when using the bezel for extended time measurements.
Beneath the surface lies a watch engineered for conditions far beyond everyday use:
• Anti-magnetic protection up to 4,800 A/m
• High-vacuum resistant construction down to 1 × 10⁻⁶ ATM
• Water resistance to 10 ATM
• Reverse dovetail sapphire crystal mounting system designed to resist pressure fluctuations and extreme loads
• Extensive testing including centrifuge, vibration, impact, heat and cold exposure
Even the supplied straps reflect the watch's origins. Each SC02C includes both a standard fabric strap and an extended version designed for mounting over a spacesuit.
🔧 The Legendary Calibre
Rather than developing a completely new in-house movement, Konstantin Chaykin deliberately chose proven reliability.
The manually wound Calibre K.20-5 is based on the historic Poljot 3133, a movement whose lineage traces directly back to Soviet space exploration. The Manufacture extensively upgrades the calibre with 60 proprietary components, adding a 12-hour chronograph counter, stop-seconds mechanism, enhanced balance architecture, and additional shock protection.
The result is a movement built not merely to impress collectors, but to withstand the rigors of genuine professional use.
🌍 Part of a Larger Vision
The SC02C represents another chapter in Konstantin Chaykin's long-running exploration of space and time.
From the groundbreaking Lunokhod with its patented moonphase display, to the ambitious Mars Conqueror series and Chaykin's research into Martian timekeeping, the Manufacture continues to explore how traditional mechanical watchmaking might one day accompany humanity beyond Earth.
