Text:-
Numbers 14:18-20
Theme:-
MERCY FOR THE PRODIGAL
Memory Verse:-
"And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him."
Luke 15:20
MESSAGE:-
God's mercy isn't just for the "holy" moments. It is specifically engineered to reach you when things are falling apart, when you've made a mistake, or when you feel completely disqualified. We are very familiar with the story of the Prodigal Son; how he asked for and got his share of his father's inheritance and traveled to a distant Country where he squandered everything and was left with nothing. Times became hard and he had to swallow his pride and took a very wise decision to return to his father and apologize. (Luke 15:18)
The Prodigal Son had a speech prepared to apologize for his "mess," but his father didn't even let him finish it. He embraced him and ordered that the fattest cow be slaughtered and a party held in his honour. This is a proof that mercy doesn't wait for you to become perfect before it embraces you. Notice the father's posture: he was looking for the son. He ran toward the mess.
If you feel like you are "a long way off" from where you should be in May, know that Mercy is already running in your direction. You don't have to clean yourself up to be loved; the embrace of Mercy is what gives you the strength to change. Stop rehearsing your failures today. Instead, visualize the Father running toward you with open arms. Accept the "hug" of His mercy without trying to explain away your mistakes.
Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points:
1. Father, I thank you that you see me even when I am far off. I receive your kiss of mercy and your robe of righteousness today, in Jesus name.
2. Lord, I realize my unworthiness and cry out for forgiveness. Show me mercy, in Jesus name.
3. Whatever be the judgment that I deserve, by your mercy let it be cancelled, in Jesus name.
4. Lord, look upon our G. O, Mommy in the Lord and their entire family with the eyes of mercy and grant them forgiveness from any guilt, in Jesus name.
