This programme highlights the often invisible women who stood behind some of the most celebrated works in the piano repertoire โ€” not as muses or symbols, but as stabilising presences, collaborators, and sources of continuity. Rather than foregrounding biography, the programme traces how joy, discipline, and psychological depth were shaped within relationships sustained by womenโ€™s emotional, domestic, and artistic labour.

From quiet dignity and daily work to long-term containment and endurance, these works reflect lives made possible by women who held space for complexity without recognition. Heard together, the programme reframes artistic greatness not as solitary genius, but as something forged and sustained within human relationship.

Join us for an afternoon of Romantic-era gems with Dimitri Malignan, a distinguished French pianist celebrated for his depth and artistry.

The program features Mendelssohnโ€™s Lieder ohne Worte (Op.19 No.1 in E major, Op.19 No.6 โ€œVenezianisches Gondelliedโ€ in G minor, and Op.62 No.6 โ€œFrรผhlingsliedโ€ in A major), Chopinโ€™s Polonaises Op.26 Nos.1 & 2, along with two Mazurkas (B-flat minor Op.24 No.4 and B-flat major Op.7 No.1). The evening continues with Clara Schumannโ€™s lyrical Nocturne in F major, Op.6 No.2 before concluding with Robert Schumannโ€™s vibrant Faschingsschwank aus Wien, Op.26.

Dimitri Malignan, a French pianist born in Paris in 1998, is recognized for his depth of interpretation, artistic integrity, and dedication to rediscovering lesser-known repertoire. A prizewinner of more than 20 international competitions, including the Prix Cortot (2017) and several awards at the Concours Musical International de Montrรฉal (2021), he has studied at top institutions such as the ร‰cole Normale de Musique de Paris, the Conservatory of Amsterdam, and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome.

Kajeng Wong

Praised for his distinctive artistic vision and compelling performances. KaJeng Wong garnered top prizes at the E-Competition in the US and earned critical acclaim at Maria Canals, Rubinstein and Liszt-Utrecht competitions, securing his place among Asiaโ€™s most sought-after artists.
Founder of the Atlas Ensemble and received commendation by the Hong Kong government, KaJeng frequently presents his original recitals such as Seasons of Life, God Pray Love, Oriental Russian Soul, Mostly Bach, All Mozart, Seasons of Schubert at prestigious venues worldwide, including Esplanade in Singapore, Shanghai Oriental Arts Centre, Palau de la Musica Catalana, Cremona Musica, Weiwuying, Taipei Concert Hall and Suntory Hall in Tokyo.

โœจMeet Jojo Yap, the youngest Malaysian cellist to study in Vienna, as she presents a solo recital featuring works by Beethoven, Davidoff, and Tchaikovsky.

Sinjo Yap (b.2009) is a Malaysian cellist currently training under Prof. Istvรกn Vรกrdai at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna. She was admitted at the age of 12โ€”making her the youngest Malaysian ever accepted to the institution.

She is a prizewinner at numerous international competitions, including:
- Southeast Asia Bach Competition 2025
- International David Geringas Cello Competition Klaipeda 2025
- CellEAST International Competition, Romania
- Vychytil International Cello Competition, Prague
- Euroasia String Competition (Malaysia)
- Malaysia Selangor Symphony Orchestra National Concerto Competition
- 8th David Popper International Cello Competition, Hungary
- Osaka International Music Competition
- Singapore Raffles Music Competition.. among others

In 2023 and 2024, she performed at the student concerts of the Cello Akademie Rutesheim Festival and has worked with renowned cellists such as Marc Coppey, Jakob Spahn, Attila Pasztor, and Julie Dessureault.
