This colour-change cobalt spinel contained a tiny zircon inclusion at the surface on which we were able to carry out radiometric age dating.

The analyses of the zircon inclusion within this spinel revealed an approximate age of 542 million years.
This calculated age is well in agreement with the age of spinel formation in metamorphic rocks found in Sri Lanka (at that time part of the supercontinent Gondwana), fitting well with other spectroscopic and chemical data indicating a Sri Lankan origin for the stone.

Rising in a blaze of color, the 26.65-carat Phoenix Padparadscha sapphire lives up to its legendary name. Its vibrant color not only recalls the mythical phoenix but also reflects the meaning behind the name padparadscha, derived from the Sinhalese word for โ€œlotus blossomโ€โ€” a reference to the gemโ€™s delicate, sunset-like hue. ๐ŸŒ…

Padparadscha sapphires are among the rarest and most prized sapphires in the world. Only stones in the pinkish-orange to orangey pink color range are classified as padparadscha by GIA. Gems over two carats are uncommon, and those over five are considered rare. The Phoenix, at an impressive 26.65 carats, combines intense even color with exceptional clarity, making it one of the finest known examples of its kind. This prized gem also hails from Sri Lanka, the most renowned source of padparadscha sapphires in the world.

GIA gemologists observed that the Phoenix Padparadscha has internal characteristics highly consistent with sapphires mined in Sri Lanka.

Chrysoberyl, one of the gemstone kingdomโ€™s most phenomenal gems, has been prized for thousands of years as a talisman of good luck. Especially treasured for its cat-eye phenomenon, in some cultures, chrysoberyl was carried as a charm protecting against evil spirits. Chrysoberyl has long been considered a good-luck charm in many cultures.
Today, chrysoberyl is an affordable, yet often-overlooked gemstone. In its classic form, chrysoberyl ranges from honey-gold to green in color, and translucent to transparent in clarity. It is sometimes compared to citrine or yellow sapphire, though chrysoberyl is far more affordable.

Chrysoberyl forms within metamorphic rocks containing beryllium, which exist in only a few parts of the world. Deposits have been found in Ceylon(Sri Lanka),Brazil, Madagascar, and Zimbabwe.

Despite what many assume, chrysoberyl is not a member of the beryl gemstone family.๐Ÿ’Ž๐Ÿ’Ž๐Ÿ’Ž๐Ÿ’Ž๐Ÿ’Ž๐Ÿ’Ž๐Ÿ’Ž๐Ÿ’Ž๐Ÿ’Ž๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ
