We incorporate a variety of materials in our designs ranging from painted clay moulds, recycled glass, bones, horn, brass, kitenge fabric, ceramic and Maasai seed beads.We draw our inspiration from both traditional African pieces and culture, wrapped into a beautiful harmony infused with a modern twist to create unique and original pieces thus turning accessorizing into a fun and exciting experience for you.

Our Story

Kihuruta is a design brand that creates handmade Afro contemporary jewellery pieces and home decor items for the style savvy individual. The brand uses locally sourced materials such as brass, seed beads,leather and up-cycled horn and bone. Kihuruta, which means butterfly in Kikuyu, was so named because the designers find a parallel between the butterfly's life cycle and transformation and their design process and final products.
