This watch is important because it is a Vacheron Constantin Ref.4538 presented in an oversized for the time 38mm case in 18K yellow gold. the workmanship of the guilloché dial. It has a very high level of quality as you would expect from this great Swiss manufacturer. This model was introduced in 1989 as part of the Historiques collection.
Considered today as a neo vintage masterpiece, it was based on the reference 4178 from the 40s.
It features a classic 36mm case with delicious tear drop lugs and it houses the venerable nouvelle lemania caliber 2310 like many important chronographs of the same period such as Breguet 3237 and Patek Philippe 5070.
