Long before the doctor came the quintessential Maya model.

Anamika gave Maya hours and hours of herself — long shoots, freezing London winters, endless changes — and some of those photographs travelled further than we ever imagined.

They brought people to Maya. They helped sell our jewellery. And behind every piece sold were the hands of our artisans, continuing to have work.

That is why this graduation feels personal to the entire Maya family.

In this picture she stands between her mother — my sister and one of the strongest women I know — and a very proud godmother wearing the Ubuntu Koru.

Koru is about new life, renewal and beginnings. In its new colour, on this particular day, I couldn’t have chosen anything more appropriate.
