It's Time to De-junk Your Kitchen

As the Year of the Wood Dragon approaches, it's a good time to de-junk your kitchen and quite honestly this is something that you should do on a regular basis. Remember that of all the rooms in your home, the kitchen is one of the most vulnerable to negative or stagnant energy and this is where your family's food is cooked every day! This type of negative chi is easily transferred to the family as it seeps into the food that you eat.

Note that cooked food is not as susceptible to absorbing yin chi as cold food - since cold food is already yin in nature. If you're a vegetarian or salad-lover, make sure your kitchen remains free from build-up and negative energy that could easily make its way into your food.

Clean on a regular basis
Your Refrigerator should be cleaned out at least once a month. Check the best-before dates on all the opened half-empty jars of sauces, dairy products and condiments and get rid of them if necessary. Get right to the back of the shelves for any food that has become shoved and lost there. Wipe down the shelves and inside doors and don't forget to clean the drawers where your produce or cheeses are stored.

Kitchen Cabinets should also be cleaned out regularly. Canned goods that are outdated, exotic sauces, flour and dry goods should all be checked. Wipe down the cabinets before replacing your grocery goods here. You will be amazed at how many outdated products you've accumulated when you check the best-before dates!

Trash and Garbage Cans should also be cleaned - including cat litter boxes as well. Wipe down the garbage cans and re-line with clean, fresh bags.

Pots and pans should be checked and replaced if they are really old and scratched up. Consider investing in new ones to cook your food.

Once a Year clean the floors, doors, and walls with a salt wipe to remove all negative chi that has accumulated there. This is easy to do using a damp cloth and rock salt. As you wipe down the surfaces, imagine that you are drawing out all the old, negative energy. Note: Always use rock salt as this has the power of the earth - synthetic salt is completely ineffective.
