Mount Carmel School, Bhagalpur was opened on 23rd June 1958 with 11 students in a small house that was bought for Franciscan Ashram at Mount Assisi. Garry T.O.R., the Prefect Apostolic of Bhagalpur, was favoured by Mother Sylvia, the then Superior General and with the support of Patna Women’s College, Mount Carmel School, Bhagalpur was founded.
1961 – The land where the present building stands was

bought with the help of Mr. Lal & Mr. Hemant Singh.
1962 – The foundation stone for the present school on the new site was laid with the untiring efforts and selfless service of Sister Adela, Sr. Roseline and all the other A.C. Sisters.
1965 – The boarding house was opened.
1966 – The First batch of students appeared for middle school board examinations.
1969 – The first batch of students appeared for the Matric examinations and the results was 100%.
1975 – Bulbul and Girls Guide and School Band was introduced by Sister Bernadita A.C. In 1983 the school celebrated its Silver Jubilee.
2006-- The first Alumni meet was held in 2006.
2008-- Mount Carmel School started the Hindi School for the underpriviledged children in July 2008. It has K.G., Classes I & II. Gradually it will be upgraded. Beside this it also has Literacy classes where the students of Mount Carmel school are involved in teaching them. For empowerment of women craft classes are organized which help them to handicraft articles out of Jute. Principals down the years :
