Ark in the Negev is a Gospel-based discipleship ministry for Israeli women (Jewish or Arab) overcoming life controlling problems suc
h as drug and alcohol addictions, homelessness and abusive relationships. An important aspect of the rehabilitative program offered to students at the Ark is that they are given the opportunity to learn "marketable skills" that will help them get back on their feet. A special project the Ark is currently running is called "Jewels of the Ark." The Jewels initiative began in May 2013 when an American ministry, Jewels for God International, donated $5,000 worth of semi-precious stones, crystals, non-tarnishing pewter and silver plated hooks for earrings. The mission also donated jewellery making tools, and a week-long teaching seminar for volunteers to learn and teach students how to make quality jewellery. A group of volunteers and students at the Ark have been meeting on Mondays to make beautiful, well made, necklaces and earrings. Some of the loveliest work has been made by the residents of the Ark themselves. Each piece is unique. We now have business license and are looking to promote and sell our jewellery on a larger scale. We have pitched our prices highly competitively in the hope that buyer is blessed not only by the piece but also by the price.
