Bold, bespoke jewellery inspired by the rich Celtic heritage and natural beauty of Ireland. Featuring the Queen Méadh Collection. Kildare.

Handcrafted in Ireland 🇮🇪 | DM to create your dream piece. Hello, I'm Lydia Clayton, the goldsmith and designer behind each piece showcased on this page. My journey with jewelry started on my grandmother's farm as a child. Entranced by her beautiful pieces that she had collected over the years, my passion for jewelry was ignited. In 2011, I began building my art portfolio with teacher Stephanie Cu

ddy Cullen. I was accepted into the National College of Art and Design in 2013, here is where was introduced to goldsmithing. Following my graduation in 2016, I honed my skills under two renowned goldsmiths, one in the Netherlands and the other in London. From 2017 to 2019, I furthered my expertise at the Design and Craft Council of Ireland skills course in Kilkenny. Subsequently, I apprenticed at a prestigious studio in County Mayo and later worked with a distinguished goldsmith and diamond setter in Naas, Co. In 2022 I set up my own business, Lydia Clayton Goldsmithing.

From the workbench… to the wedding day. 🤍

One of the most special parts of what I do is being invited to share in the moments these pieces were made for.

There’s something incredibly meaningful about designing and creating a ring, and then seeing it worn on the wedding day, especially when it’s for a childhood friend.

From choosing the stone to creating the piece, and seeing it become part of someone’s story, it really is a wonderful feeling.

Wishing the happy couple a lifetime of love and happiness. 🤍

Why does bespoke jewellery take time? Because every detail is considered and made for you. ✨

From developing the design and sourcing the right stones and metals, to shaping, setting and finishing each piece by hand, bespoke jewellery is a completely different process to choosing something off the shelf.

It can also begin with jewellery you already own. Gold can be reused, stones can be reset, and inherited pieces can be reimagined into something new while keeping their story alive.

The difference is in the weight, balance, finish and craftsmanship. A piece made with purpose, and made to last.

I made this Celtic-inspired engagement ring for Saoirse and Joey, and I’m so happy with how it turned out. 💚

At the centre is a beautiful teal-green diamond, set in yellow gold and finished with Celtic-inspired detailing, including two Celtic symbols on either side of the stone.

This was such a collaborative process, working closely with Saoirse to create something that felt personal, meaningful and completely unique to her.

I’m truly honoured to have created this one-of-a-kind piece for Saoirse and Joey, made especially for them and never to be repeated. ✨

Beautiful jewellery deserves to be worn and loved again. ✨

Sometimes, clients bring me gold from pieces they no longer wear and ask me to create something completely new.

Jewellery remodelling is one of the bespoke services I offer, transforming existing gold into a piece designed especially for you while keeping the story and sentiment behind it.

This beautiful transformation is a perfect example of what is possible.

If you have jewellery you would love to reimagine, please get in touch to discuss your own bespoke piece.

This engagement ring carries generations of family history within it 💍

The diamonds once belonged to Katie’s great great aunt, Cecilia Murphy, who was born in Belmullet, Co. Mayo. The original ring was designed as a diamond shamrock, reflecting the family’s Irish roots, and was created for Cecilia’s sister Eileen.

Over the years, the ring was passed through the women of the family and eventually came to Katie’s nana, Mary Lavin, née Murphy. The original shamrock design was later remodelled into two beautiful pear shaped diamonds, which Katie would eventually inherit.

Katie’s nana always believed that family jewellery was made to be shared, treasured and passed on.

It was such a privilege to continue that tradition by transforming these family diamonds into Katie’s engagement ring, preserving their history while creating something that belongs to a new chapter in her own story.

The same diamonds. Generations of memories. A beautiful new beginning. ❤️
