The excitement today waiting for the Postman! At last, the wonderful book on Mitsuro Hikime by and .kihara has arrived!!
This is such a beautifully produced book, which covers tradition and innovation, the pioneering work of several contemporary artists who also use this ancient Japanese lost wax casting technique, as well as a wax recipe and illustrated step-by-step instructions. This wonderful book is all about inspiration. And I am utterly and gratefully inspired!!

A client recently came to me with a beautiful request to make a pomegranate pendant for his niece. Something meaningful, personal, and completely unique.
What I thought would be a simple process unfolded into one of those studio pieces where every detail asks for a little more attention than you first expect! Slowly, it found its own balance, the way some pieces do when you stop overthinking and let the materials lead a little 🥸
The finished pendant is handcrafted in sterling silver with accents of 24ct gold applied using the ancient Korean Keum-boo technique.
The pomegranate “seeds” are three different sizes of faceted garnet beads, because one size just didn’t allow for that curved “I live inside this fruit” vibe 😆
If you enjoy jewellery that carries a story as much as a design, follow along — there are always more pieces taking shape behind the scenes!

✨ Behind every “effortlessly pretty” jewellery photo…there’s a tiny war being waged between gravity and your patience✨
This little sterling silver beauty with a peach morganite might look effortless…but getting it to pose for the camera? That’s a whole other story.
Swipe through 👉 to see it gleaming from every angle, looking like it just rolled off a vintage postcard…and then land on the real ‘hero’ of the shoot: a blob of sticky tack holding it upright while I try not to knock it over.
So yes, the glam might be subtle, but the struggle behind it is real! 😝

P.S. I learned this utterly cool cut-down Victorian setting technique at a class in London recently with the incredibly lovely and talented Stephen Barnett. I’ve tagged him here so check him out!!

POV: it’s a sunny day and you can’t stop staring at your ring ✨
This handmade sterling silver beauty holds an 8mm peach morganite, glowing in a romantic Victorian cut-down setting.
The kind of piece that catches the light… and everyone’s attention 💍
I think the domed collet (like a little silver bowl under the stone) gives it quite a contemporary look.

Yes, I do like a challenge! And a recent “can you do this” required me to turn stainless steel cutlery into a silver ring. The cutlery belonged to a young woman’s beloved grandmother who passed on recently. I hope this sterling silver replica ring reminds her often of the love and memories she shared with her Gran 💝

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful women out there who love & take care of others. We might only get one dedicated day every 12 months, but we can always do something nice for ourselves the other 364 days of the year 🤗 My self-treat is either gemstones or tools (I’m so predictable 😛)….What’s yours?
Pictured is a delicate but solid 9ct rose gold ‘rose’ pendant on a 9ct rose gold diamond cut 16inch chain (optional add-on of two inch chain extender). DM for details 😘

I bought this seriously rusty reversible ingot mould a while back for a song. It looked totally beyond saving but I had hope!
After a long soak in white vinegar, a scrub with a wire brush, neutralise any remaining vinegar in a bicarbonate soda bath and a final oiling - it’s as good as new!!

Mixing metals is a great way to add visual interest to your jewellery and a touch of affordable luxury to an otherwise neutral silver piece. For maximum impact, add a pop of colour with a juicy gemstone and you have one gorgeous layered look - a little contrast, a little harmony, and a whole lot of sparkle ✨🌟✨

📸 the 14ct gold & silver garnet pendant featured here was a special birthday commission 🫶

I need your help! I’m trying out new packaging….
What do you think? 🤔
This is a very sturdy box covered in soft velour in a beautiful dusty pink shade. I love my other boxes, which I’ve used for years - they’re made from ECO materials and I love that, but as they’re basically cardboard, I feel I should use longer lasting materials that endure for many years, maybe even as long as my jewellery, which is hand made to last for generations!
So, what do you think? Eco- friendly materials that may not withstand years of use, or not-so eco friendly materials that you will never need to replace?
🌺 I do love the vintage luxury vibe of these boxes though, they’re very tactile and refined looking I think.
But my husband prefers my other boxes…so now I don’t know what I like 🤷‍♀️
Help!!!!

Amber - that fascinating fossil - is formed from soft, sticky tree resin. Most ambers are 20 million to 130 million years old.
So, older than me then 😉

The pendant pictured here is going to be raffled off in aid of the Inistioge Tidy Towns as part of their annual Christmas fund raiser. Our tidy towns team do the most incredible work! This year, they secured our 5th gold medal for Inistioge - 5 in a row! - and our beautiful village was also awarded 1st place in the county, which is quite a big deal, beating an impressive city like Kilkenny! Nearly better than being just 6 marks behind the national winner... 😛
