It’s almost May, and I’m making blankets.

And…you can’t say I don’t like colour either. It’s maximalist everything over here. Lots of brightness, lots of colour clashing, contrasting and combining. That’s where my design/ creative process starts: colour.

But for the record, I do use beige. But only in small doses.

Each blanket is one of one. That’s how I work. And considering how long it takes to make a blanket, that’s how it always be. For a fibre artist, blanket making is a life choice.

So I decided to go with the lemon peel stitch. It’s one of my favourites; I love the texture it creates and it’s pretty easy to do.
I’m currently crocheting the back panel, and this is the result with a 3/4 skein of yarn. About to start a new full skein, which should finish off the back panel, and start one of the front panels.

In honour of , I give you my WIP of the day.

This jewelled coloured throw blanket in the making, incorporating some older crochet samples that have been sitting in the to do box.
I went through the box this afternoon to see what was in there, and to rotate my various projects so I have something “new” to work on. I found this, and since I have just completed my second blanket ( gives self a pat on the back), I decided this is what I will work on today.

If you can see a beige piece just peeking out from underneath, that is half of a cardigan I’m also planning to work on today.

So I was on , looking at my saved pins, and I came across my favourite colour ( azure blue - yes, i know, bougie) and the colour combination inspo board for it. Now my favourite combination for this shade of blue is a Kelly green ( like a grass green). To me that’s just gorgeous.

And I have this colour yarn - Special DK in Empire - which is an azure blue or at the very least a close shade to it. I thought about crocheting a cardigan for myself in the yarn, and as much as I love a blue/green combo, I thought perhaps I should try a different colour with this blue.

Wouldn’t you know baby pink goes with azure blue? And wouldn’t you also know I have some sparkly baby pink yarn waiting to be used?

I have a plan for the design - updates and finished project to come.

Also, I really shouldn’t be starting another project, what with the other five thousand WIPS wating to be finished. But my hyper fixation with this colour combination and project told me I had to. So who am I to say no? 🤷🏽‍♀️

Testing out a new Mix & Match set coming for summer.

What you’re seeing is just a test - I’ll probably go for different shapes. I’m really just figuring things out.
