Nicole van der Wolf is an international jewellery designer and gemmologist based in Dublin city. She designs contemporary jewellery centred on fancy-cut gems and carvings, which she complements with high-carat gold and accent stones. In her work Nicole draws inspiration from the experiences and the scenery of her international lifestyle. She focuses on the memories and feelings the gems evoke, and

is especially fascinated by how light changes in different parts of the world and how it affects colours locally. This shows in the choice of the coloured gemstones that form the focal point of her jewelry and the different finishes on the 18kt gold that emphasize the light and colour in her designs. A very big thank you to the Irish Jewellers and Silversmiths Guild and The National Museum of Ireland for selecting my ShipShape ring for the IJSG show.

You'll find my ring amongst work from 34 other contemporary makers -- each a showstopper in its own right. Scroll through to see the full line-up.

It's on view in the Irish Silver exhibit until April 28 and - the weather being what it is - it's the perfect place for a rainy day.
