Have you ever seen ancient portraits engraved into stone?
For centuries, intaglios carried the faces of emperors, gods, and loved ones.

Miniature portraits carved into gemstones, worn as rings, passed through time as heirlooms.
Today, I continue this tradition with modern stories.
This portrait was engraved in smoky quartz for a wedding ring, carved in reverse and protected inside the stone, where light reveals every detail.

What was once reserved for emperors now becomes personal talismans. Modern love stories set into stone, meant to be worn, lived with, and passed on.

Heirlooms to carry through time.

Since antiquity, glypticians carved the faces of rulers, gods, and loved ones into gemstones, tiny portraits worn in rings, sealed in gold, and carried as talismans of devotion and memory.

These miniature sculptures survived empires, crossed continents, and were passed from hand to hand as silent witnesses of history, love and lineage.

Today, I continue this ancient tradition with modern stories.

Here is a glimpse of the process of my latest commission for a client who wanted the portrait of his beautiful wife engraved into smokey quartz. Here the smoky quartz is being cut and shaped to fit into the gold ring, and then slowly engraved in reverse, inside the stone.

I engraved this intaglio on carnelian stone inspired by an old wax print for the Cork goldsmith 💍

I had to engrave the crest in reverse to be used as a seal. We can see hands holding what looks like the shepherd's sickle with the Motto in "Deus Pastor Meus" which means The Lord is my Shepherd, a Christian symbol of faith and guidance.

Silver ring with a Bespoke HandEngraved Amethyst that I made for a lovely couple.

The Amethyst intaglio 🍈🍋 (which is the technique of engraving a motif in hollow), represents a Melon and a Lemon intertwined, symbols that the man has chosen and that make sense to him and his partner. Slide the Photos to see the Print of it.

I was being told that the Lady loves purple so we've chosen a Pretty Amethyst. 💜

I've modelled the Ring in Wax in an organic form inspired by the latest Ring I made that she liked, with hearts on the side (which kinda gives it medieval vibe which I love 🏰). I then sent it to a company to have it cast in Solid Silver.

I love so much making these Jewelry which tell the Stories of people and that they can wear and look at everyday as a visual representation of their Unique Love.

Discover the Process behind this Dragon Opal Sculpture I've carved 🔥

I was entrusted by a Opal Collector & Seller whom I met last Summer at the Mineral and Gem Show in France, to transform his rough Mexican Fire Opal into a Sculpture following my inspiration.

You can observe some initial Sketched I've made directly on the Stone on the first Photo and how it evolved to its final Form.

I was really inspired by its Natural fiery colors and all I could see was a Dragon.
I carefully carved and the piece, bringing the mystical Creature to life with intricate details, from its scales to its wings.

I've kept some rough parts of the stone to enhance the eyes and make it look like the dragon is walking up from his rock 🐉
