DISCDEVO, 1409’18 – AMSHAL 14:1-9 [WMB/jcov]
DiscNote:
Ternyata benar bahwa orang bebal itu kebal terhadap kebenaran;
tebal telinga mendengarkan nasihat yang baik; mencemooh cara2 untuk bisa melepaskan diri dari dosa dan pelanggaran taurat dan hukum dunia;
dan sikap mereka akan selalu bikin sebal.
Nasihat buat orang tulus: Jauhilah orang2 bebal, singkirkanlah orang2 yang menyebalkan dari kalangan orang2 tulus (biar tidak tertular), abaikanlah perkataan2 orang bebal, hindarilah pertikaian, perdebatan yang tidak setara, antara hikmat dan nikmat. Jangan biarkan diri kita memasuki polemik debat kusir, karena orang bebal menganggap diri lebih berhikmat, sehingga apa yang mereka katakan dan lakukan dipandang yang terbaik, sehingga mereka tidak akan berubah apalagi bertobat.
Belajar sabar menghadapi orang2 yang s**a provokasi dan belajar tidak membalas kata2 keji. Pujilah orang2 yang berhak menerima pujian karena kinerja yang baik dan doakanlah mereka yang tidak melakukan tugasnya dengan bertanggung-jawab, karena siapa tau mereka memang tidak mampu.
1 Every wise woman builds her house,
but the foolish one tears it down with her own hands.
{Wise women hold their families together by the wise things that they do,
but foolish women ruin their families by the foolish things that they do.}
1 Wanita bijak membangun rumahnya,
tetapi wanita bebal merobohkannya dengan tangannya sendiri.
2 He who walks in his uprightness fears the LORD,
but he who is perverse in his ways despises Him.
{By continually acting righteously, people show that they have a good respect for YHWH;
those who walk on crooked paths [deceive others] show that they despise Him.}
2 Dia yang berjalan dalam ketulusan dialah yang takut akan YHWH,
tetapi yang menyimpang dari jalan2-Nya menghina Dia.
3 The fool’s talk brings a rod to his back,
but the lips of the wise protect them.
{Foolish people will be punished for what they say,
but wise people will be protected by what they say.}
3 Mulut orang bebal mengundang rotan di punggungnya (bakal dihukum),
tetapi bibir orang bijak melindungi mereka.
4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean,
but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
{If a man has no oxen to plow his field, he does not need to put grain in their feedbox,
but if he has oxen, they will enable him to produce an abundant crop.
4 Jika tak ada lembu/kerbau, palungan pun bersih,
tetapi dengan memiliki lembu, akan memperoleh hasil bumi.
5 A truthful witness will not lie,
but a false witness pours out lies.
{Witnesses who are reliable always say what is truly happened,
but witnesses that are not reliable constantly tell lies about what happened.}
5 Saksi jujur tak akan berdusta,
tetapi saksi palsu menyemburkan dusta2.
6 A scoffer seeks wisdom, and doesn’t find it,
but knowledge comes easily to a discerning person.
{Those who make fun of being wise will never become wise,
but those who understand what is right learn things easily.}
6 Pencemooh mencari hikmat, dan tidak menemukannya;
tetapi pengetahuan datang dengan mudah bagi yang memahaminya.
7 Stay away from a foolish man,
for you won’t find knowledge on his lips.
{Stay away from foolish people,
because they will not be able to teach you anything useful.
7 Menyingkirlah dari hadapan orang bebal,
sebab engkau tak akan menemukan pengetahuan di bibirnya.
8 The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way,
but the folly of fools is deceit.
{Those who have good sense are wise, so they know what they should do and what they should not do;
but foolish people do not know what is right to do,
but because they think that they do, they are deceiving themselves}.
8 Hikmat orang bijak mampu mengatur jalan hidupnya (apa yang boleh/tidak boleh dilakukan)
tetapi kebodohan orang bebal adalah tipuan.
(mereka tidak tahu apa yang benar untuk dilakukan, sebab
mereka pikir mereka melakukan yang baik, padahal semuanya hanya tipuan}
9 Fools mock at making atonement for sins,
but among the upright there is good will.
9 Foolish people make fun of their committing sins;
but God is pleased with those who do what is right.
9 Orang2 bebal mentertawakan cara penebusan dosa,
tetapi di kalangan orang2 benar/lurus, ada niat baik (meninggalkan dosa).
