From the past

This pair of earrings is inspired from one of the findings that we can see in the temporary exhibition entitled "Princes of Pylos.Late bronge age treasures of Messenia"which takes place in Kalamata archaeological museum.

The exhibition reflects the Mycenaean Messenian cultural identity, beginning to take shape at the end of the middle Helladic period and evolving until the end of 13th century BCE ,when almost the entire Messenian areawas part of the territory of Pylos,the main administrative, commercial, economic and religious center located in the palace at ano Englianos.

When Telemachus arrived in Pylos, he was welcomed with wine poured from elegant flasks into shining cups—an age-old gesture of hospitality.

This necklace is inspired by the Linear B ideograms,found in ancient Pylos.

I imagined a form that of a wine vessel that once carried the essence of celebration,tradition and shared stories over cups of deep red wine.

A tribute to the Mycenaean past , reimagined in silver and gold.

The stones I picked is garnet that it's color resembles the strong color the wine.Handmade here in Pylos, where the echoes of Homer’s verses still linger.

(The Odyssey, Book 1)

In Homeric Pylos, King Nestor welcomed Telemachus with open arms, exemplifying the ancient Greek value of xenia. As a symbol of hospitality and protection, Nestor gifted him a gold necklace adorned with amethyst, representing clarity and safeguarding. This meaningful gesture reflected the wisdom Telemachus sought on his journey to uncover his father's fate.

(This is an imaginary story and jewellery inspired from the Odyssey and the Mycenaean era of Pylos)
