Curated by Eleni Varopoulou, the presentation explored landscape as personal mythology — through painting, sculpture, and photography — reflecting on place, memory, and material.

A heartfelt thank you to the Kourd Gallery supporting team for their dedication and hard work behind the scenes — this wouldn’t have been possible without you. .kkv

Thank you to the organizers , visitors, and fellow participants for an inspiring Art Athina!

Artists David Benforado, Venia Dimitrakopoulou, Maria Filippakopoulou, Markos Kampanis, Win Knowlton, and Kimiko Yoshida participate in Art Athina 2025 through their collaboration with Kourd Gallery, presenting works in painting, sculpture, and photography using mixed media.

This presentation, curated by Eleni Varopoulou, is shaped by a reflective approach to the idea of landscape, an unflinching observation of specific places, and personal mythologies — whether through photographic self-portraiture or the recycling of archival motifs carved in marble.

Eleni Varopoulou notes: «Fair weather or foul, the forecasts of today’s meteorologists seem to have ignited the imagination of New York-based painter and sculptor Win Knowlton. With a sharp sense of humor and a discerning eye, he turns his attention to the natural world— particularly as it stands vulnerable in the face of climate change. As a keen observer of weather, Knowlton contemplates the blazing sun, wisps of clouds drifting across a clear sky, lush vegetation sprouting from damp garden soil, fire licking at tree trunks, and the cracked dryness of parched earth.
Rather than attempting to depict nature in its entirety, he distills its essence-focusing on specific natural elements and weather phenomena through an abstract, elliptical lens».
