The Surrey Sporting Club provides English Sporting Clay Pigeon shooting of the highest possible standard for members and prospective members. Our objective is to create an informal and relaxed atmosphere where clay pigeon shooting can be enjoyed by both clay and game shooters. As we are a club rather than a commercial shooting ground we are not able to cater for corporate entertainment or any othe
r large groups, stag parties and the like. Beginners and experienced shots are welcome, as are black powder users. Instruction, gun hire and felt wad cartridges (12 & 20 bore) are available. We are a police approved range, you do not need to have a shotgun certificate to shoot with us and we may hire a gun to you and sell cartridges for use on the range. We have two 50 bird layouts and you can shoot the A or the B, or both (the C shoot). 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for the C shoot are gold, silver and bronze medals (members only). Prizes for the A & B shoots are cartridges (Winner 50, Runner-up 25). Members shoot under the club's unique handicap system which ensures that everyone, men, women and children, whatever their ability, has an equal chance of winning. Visitors compete in the 100 Bird un-handicapped competition and the Winner gets 50 cartridges. We shoot on the first and third Sundays in each month, and on the fifth Sunday if there is one, at Brick Kiln Copse. Shooting starts at 10.00am but coffee and tea are available from 9.30am. Trophy presentations are at about 1.30pm. Our Brick Kiln Copse shooting ground is easy to find. It is close to the M25/A3 (junction 10) off Old Lane, which runs from the A3 (Guildford) slip road (past the Black Swan) to Effingham Junction (look out for two black farm gates in the woods 500 yards from Effingham Junction). Satnav: the nearest post code is KT11 1NL but this may point to “Barnsthorns”, we shoot in the clearing on the opposite side of the road.
