when I was around 12 months pregnant with my youngest child

(probably 8 but it felt like 12😆)
almost 50 years ago a friend suggested we take a pottery lesson
we did and
I absolutely loathed it

the smell of the clay made me extremely nauseous and
the wheel was pretty difficult to reach !
it didn’t help that I don’t think the teacher had showered in days (perhaps months …
haha well I am the queen of embellishment )
so I avoided asking for help and having him lean over

the feel of the clay and dubious end result which I never returned to collect made for a forgettable experience and
I decided for sure that ceramics was not for me

and then
it became my life

when people ask me what I do
and I say
I make buttons

they often blink vaguely …and ask
…
buttons?

it’s so amusing watching reactions and yet buttons are something most of us use every single day 😆

when I told my husband I was going to try to make buttons 44 years ago
his reaction was much the same
