We used fine motor skills to snip and cut strips of green yellow and orange card.

Eventually arranging them to resemble flowers.

We talked about parts of the plant roots stem leaves and petals.

And it is goooooood!

But did we learn anything?

Developing our Fine motor skills- whilst picking them.
Plant clasification- knowing what were picking.
Counting our flower heads -we needed 200! We picked 175 ish.
Being kind to the teny tiny insects by giving them time to crawl free bedore putting them in the pot.
The importance of hand washing- after picking and before cooking.
Measuring our liquids and sugars.
Using tools- to juice the lemon
Health and saftey- hot jobs are for grown ups.
Quality control- tasting is for children 😄

Todays quick walk became a bit of a bird spotting adventure.
On the way to and from the park, we spotted:

1 robin with a big fat worm
2 wagtails and 1 pigeon also catching worms acording to mini mindee
1 crow in the park
1 great tit
3 sparrows
1 black bird
4 magpies in 2 sets of 2 (double joy)

On the pond 1 morehen
And 5 ducks,1 female and 4 males.

I was very impressed with mini mindees spotting skills and knowlege after she named a few of the birds we saw.

We talked about size, as not all little birds are babies,
The Colour of feathers and beaks, what sounds they are making and where they might live.

We checked our knowledge in the bird book on our return.

Quiet day today with only 1 mini mindee.
So we started with A game. This is favorite at the moment its a time theme lotto style Floor game.

🗣Were using words to describe what the bear is doing on each tile as we pick it up broadening our vocabulary,

👀Were noticing details and matching pictures.

👭were taking turns.

👄were having conversations about what we like for breakfast and dinner, what we see when we walk in the park and what stories we like to read just like the bears in the game.

📖 Weve even made up our own storylines using the picture tiles.

But Also were developing independance through choice and resposibility by tidying up, when were finished playing.

Inside Sand trays
Intention v outcome

🌟But fun and learning still happened.
Scooping using a variety of methods, tippping or sweeping sand about, exploring textures, making marks. Cause and effect tipping sand off trays and watching sand fall to the floor.
🌟 everyone joined in with sweeping up the sand (in their own way)
Promoting life skills, hand and eye coordination, gross and fine motor skills, responsibility and independance.
