I always advise complete beginners to have a few lessons before investing in a drum kit and have seen some great innovations for practice without drums including paint pots, American Football helmets and Tupperware containers. What's your best alternative drum kit?

The Backbone Drums HQ is now set up and ready to record more backing tracks as well as the first ever lesson videos. First up will be the Complete Foundation book done as a series of free to stream drum lessons with me. I have been doing Army Cadet training videos online - https://www.youtube.com/ - to back up my Cadet Books for a while now so this should be easy, right?

All set up in the Drum Lounge for recording this week. Recording drum tracks for Rustorm, Key to my cage and 18th Emergency.
Experimenting with 7 mics and all drums triggering midi so can’t wait to hear how it sounds!
Playing Animal Custom Drums with paiste cymbals and Roland triggers. Using Behringer mics and PreSonus interface.

I've been following Pete from RhythmSticks Drum Tuition for a while now and he is always putting up such positive and fun posts and his students clearly love him! So chuffed that he considers my Backbone Drums books and Colin's Drumsense books worthy of his teaching practice! Thanks Pete, keep up the good work!

The bearing edge is the inside top edge of a drum that the drum head sits on. I never knew there were different shapes for different sounds though. Interesting!
