Lodgeway Ryelands and Nobut Manor Coloured Ryelands Lodgeway Ryelands make a welcome return to a new home along with the formation of a new Coloured Ryeland Flock under the prefix Nobut Manor .

The aim being to commercially farm them ,with surplus breeding stock sold privately and society sales.

After a bout of illness and injury it was great to finally get the ewes and lambs away to summer grazing..This has put us a little bit behind for the start of the show and selling season ...
Sheep will be available for sale at the usual sales at Ludlow ,Carlisle and the Rubies @ Worcester..
Showing this year will see us taking in 2 new shows and re visiting 2 shows not visited for a while .
Now time to watch the lambs grow ,halter train ( well Shirley will do that )..Shearing the ewes booked in for the start of May ..Will hopefully get time for more updates ,more often 👍

They always say you can't teach an old dog new tricks ..

Well see below ... a couple of years ago we 'invested' in one of these as seen below ... never had cause to use it...

But this time we actually took the time to read the instructions pre lambing ..

Last week ,had a single lamb born which was very tight and when born ,wouldn't take a breath ,even after all the regular straw up the nose ,blow etc..

Rushed to get this and when back ,was only a very faint heart beat.. thought it was too late ,used the gadget to put air into the lamb..

The conclusion is ,the lamb is now thriving ,the bag with the resucitator ,lives in our lambing kit box and i wax lyrical about the event too anyone that cares too listen ..

Well worth its money .. most firms will have one .. around £130- £150 approx..

nb the one pictured isnt actually the one we have ,but similar type .

To everyone that attended and bought sheep off us yesterday at the Worcester Sale of the RYELAND RUBIES ,we do wish you well with your purchases ..
All the sheep i know about have been transferred into your flocks this morning (so leave a day or two for grassroots to do their bit )..
Anyone else who is missing sheep bought off Lodgeway or Nobut Manor flocks in 2025 ,please pm me.. a few still showing up on Grassroots which have been sold .

Too everyone who has supported us this year in anyway either showing ,prepping ,selling ,buying etc.. A MASSIVE YEAR for us and thankfully our flock is now more manageable as we look forward to lambing end of January ,start of Feb ..

The Highs and Lows of livestock keeping ..Yesterday whilst we attended the Ryeland Rubies we received tragic news that a ram we had bred and recently transferred out had ,had to be put too sleep due to a hernia complication .
Nobut Manor Bodyguard was one of the first CR rams we decided to keep and use
.He was never a show tup and a tad grumpy now and again , he even managed to loose half an ear but what a legacy he has left.. Many prize winners including fantastic results at the National Show ..
We fortunately have 5 in lamb to him in the middle of Feb ,so hopefully a few ewe lambs to carry on the legacy.. photo of him as a shearling ...
