9k Yellow gold, Australian black opal and blue sapphire ring. Made in situ in St Ives, Cornwall.

All of the jewellery I make is made in situ, just as the painter paints the landscape I carve the wax piece in front of the landscape.

In this piece I have tried to capture the different turquoise colours of the ocean and detailed the gold in line with the eroded cliff stacks around St Ives.

Locating the bulbous rock formations atop the Peak District mountains can be a strenuous task, especially in harsh weather.

Nevertheless, I reached this towering stack of weathered stone, sat at its base, and sketched the design for this multi-stone ring.

To capture the spirit of the landscape, the 9k white gold was alloyed and cast right at this exact spot.
