The story behind the needle!
โค๏ธMy love for sewing & creativity came after many happy hours spent watching my grandmother sew in her London flat, it was here that her skills and knowledge were passed on to me. The lasting memory I have is of the wonderful hours we spent together designing and making my wedding dress. This was to be our last adventure together, as her eyesight and health started to fail. After the birth of my first son I transformed the dress into a christening gown for him, incorporating the vintage lace and silver sixpence she had sewn in. It has since been used for all three of my boys christenings & each time I have embroidered their names into it, thus becoming a family heirloom.
My aim is to help others transform memories shut away in lofts or drawers into memories which can be part of everyday life. Be this to commemorate the life of a loved one, the early days of a young life, time at school or activity, or anything else.
I also like to use my skills to make life easier for those who face additional challenges in their lives. I make wheelchair bags, adapt clothes and make weighted blankets. Alongside this I also offer a repair and alteration service, soft furnishing making service and make many unique gifts for adults and children.
When not sewing I can be found running and raising money for charity. Having run the London Marathon this year, my new challenge is to run it again in 2020 alongside 26 half marathons in 52 weeks whilst raising funds for the Alzheimer's Society. #lovelocal #supportsmallbusiness #support #handmadewithlove #memoryblankets #memorypillows #needlework #giftideas #surreylife #surreyliving #surreyhomes #ilovereigate
