Telling stories through decoration, Rachael Plassard creates beautifully ornate jewellery, engagement rings & objets d’art inspired by historical ornament.

My work reinterprets traditional ornament, taking inspiration from highly decorative styles throughout history. Within each piece I weave personal narratives and symbolism, creating magical jewellery evoking memories and connection. I often work intuitively, marking out and piercing by hand, allowing myself to be absorbed in the flow of making. I take a maximalist approach to my work by layering u

p decorative surfaces and combining a mixture of techniques, etching, roller printing, keum boo, gold plating and oxidising. These combinations result in a richness and opulence, and what at first glance might look like a Greek headdress, or a baroque frame, on closer inspection is imbued with a contemporary aesthetic. It is only at the end that the piece comes to life, when I lift, twist, and form the metal, a delightful and satisfying process of experimentation and discovery.

What an INCREDIBLE weekend!

Thank you to my awesome stand neighbours Clover Robin and Jodie Crook-Giles for all the laughs and fun, you guys kept me going ❤️

And thank you to my wonderful husband and the grandmas Marie-Laure Plassard and Sarah Macrae for holding the fort at home with the kiddos!

I had so many amazing conversations and beautiful connections, and I cant wait to do it all again next year 🥰

Wow! What an fabulous weekend so far. I was absolutely delighted beyond words to win The Byre Gallery showcase award, what an honour!!

I also said goodbye to an incredibly special and one of a kind necklace, and im so thrilled its found the perfect home.

The wait is nearly over… 2 weeks today and we will be opening the doors to the most wonderful craft Festival, Bovey Tracey!

Im so excited to see all the incredibly beautiful work and have lots of lovely conversations. And the cherry on top being on the poster this year, its an absolute DREAM!

A fabulous weekend in pictures! ✨️

- Carving a ring and bangle ready to take with me to Bovey in June

- Experimenting with an idea for a necklace for an exciting 10 year exhibition

- Teaching a lovely group of ladies to make decorative rings

- Painting my jewellery boxes to make them a bit more snazzy

- Annealing the acanthus carved ring from no 1

- Baby duckies down by the lake

- Finished off by setting up the workshop for a private wedding ring workshop this week!

Thanks to everyone that popped into the studio to say hi during the spring market, so many wonderful conversations were had! 🌿☀️

Absolutely over the moon to have my Acanthus earrings featured on the promotion for Bovey Tracey! I am SO excited to be back this year.

The craft festival is a fantastic show, bringing together gorgeous handmade work from many incredible makers. Im very proud to be showing here again!

Thank you so much Sarah James at for all your encouragement and support this year, its such a pinch me moment to see my earrings on the posters!
