Meet Kay 👋 .nyne

Many of you may already know him as Kay.nyne, an Afrobeats Artist who is making huge waves and building a strong reputation within the music industry 🎵

But beyond the music, Kay has a clear vision, a strong business idea and the drive to turn it into reality. We’re excited to be working alongside Kay on a weekly basis through mentoring and project work, helping him develop his business venture by building on the skills, experiences and talents he already possesses.

At Next Gen, we’re passionate about helping young people recognise their strengths and turn their ambitions into action. Kay is a fantastic example of a young person with a vision who is willing to put in the work to make it happen.

We can’t wait to see where this journey takes him and are proud to be part of the process! 💙

Director meetings can involve a whole range of things; planning projects, reviewing impact, discussing partnerships and looking ahead to what’s next.

But one topic dominated our conversation: How do we tackle the rising number of young people who are currently NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) in our city?

Behind every statistic is a young person with potential, ambitions and talents that deserve to be nurtured. The reality is that too many young people are facing barriers to opportunity, and that’s something we refuse to ignore.

As directors, our responsibility is not just to talk about the challenges facing young people, but to take action. We spent time exploring solutions, identifying opportunities and discussing how we can continue to create pathways that help young people build confidence, gain experience and access meaningful opportunities.

The challenge is significant, but so is the potential of the young people in our city. We’re committed to being part of the solution. 🗣️

What are the chances of our two biggest funding partners, in the same place, at the same time? 👀

A huge shoutout to Tessa from The Blagrave Trust and Police & Crime Commissioner Donna Jones from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary!

The support of these two amazing ladies goes far beyond funding, it creates opportunities, opens doors and helps young people realise their potential.

We’re incredibly grateful for their continued belief in our work and their commitment to helping young people thrive.

Partnerships like these make a real difference, and we’re excited to keep building brighter futures together 🖤

We are SO incredibly proud of this team who faced the 100m drop and took on the Spinnaker Tower Abseil 👏🧗

In the end all three directors, Leah, Simon AND Keshia, stepped over the edge alongside the amazing Oakley, Andy, Habs, Kirsty & Scott, showing what can happen when we back ourselves and face our fears together.

This day was about so much more than an abseil. It was about courage, support, community and proving that growth happens outside of our comfort zones.

Together, across all four charities, a huge amount of money was raised to continue supporting communities and changing lives, we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who donated, cheered us on and stood beside us throughout the day ❤️

At Next Gen, we do what we do to raise aspirations and remind young people that they are capable of more than they may believe. We hope this challenge sends a simple message: You can do anything you put your mind to.

We’ve tackled the tower… now let’s tackle what’s going on in our city 💥
And it’s not too late to put a donation in the pot 👇

Big ideas. Big conversations. Big things coming… 👀

A great session with this amazing team today! This youth-led project group are working on something HUGE, and we genuinely can’t wait to share more with you soon.

Watching young people come together with creativity and vision is exactly what it’s all about 🖤

A huge thank you as well to The Parenting Network for hosting us at The Forge. We really appreciate the support and providing a space where ideas, collaboration and innovation can grow.

THIS FRIDAY! 😆🧗‍♂️ and you can still donate today!

Leah, Oakley, Simon, Andy & Habs are all taking on the abseil to raise money for Politely Rebellious Next Gen CIC, and every penny goes straight back into supporting young people in our city.

The team will be abseiling at 13:30 on Friday for anyone who wants to come down & see the action 💪

We all come from different backgrounds and have our own experiences, but we share the same mission: to help and empower the next generation.

Help us reach our goal & donate today! https://gofund.me/209bb2494

PLEASE SHARE & If you’re able to support, we’d be so grateful 🙏

Important conversations around digital footprint and staying safe online at Henry Cort 👣📱

Keshia was joined by Andy to see our OPCC-funded Digital Footprint sessions in action, creating space for honest and engaging conversations with students around online behaviour, reputation, decision-making and the lasting impact of what we post and share.

These sessions are all about helping young people better understand the digital world they navigate every day and empowering them to make informed, positive choices online.

We were incredibly grateful to receive this feedback from the school:
“Thank you so much to you [Keshia] and Andy for today, we felt that it was very informative and the students gained a great deal from the experience. We look forward to the next visit in June!” 💙

A huge thank you to the OPCC for supporting these important conversations 👏

Introducing our Next Gen Role Model Development Lead Andy!

Andy Moss has spent much of his adult life choosing the harder path, not because he had to, but because it reflects who he is. He spent 24 years in the British Army, finishing his military career as Regimental Sergeant Major at the Army Leadership School. Alongside this, Andy has consistently pushed himself beyond his limits, completing marathons and ultramarathons including the London Marathon, the Comrades Marathon (56 miles uphill), and the 100km Trailwalker. His personal ethos is rooted in doing the right thing, pursuing excellence, and the belief that you are only as good as the standard you walk by, not just when it’s easy, but all of the time.

Since leaving the Army, Andy has held senior roles across the water industry, defence consultancy, and the NHS, including as Head of Organisational Development at University Hospital Southampton. Now a leadership specialist and executive coach, he founded Oakbridge Consulting to help leaders close the gap between what they say they value and how they actually live it.

As Role Model Development Lead, Andy leads the support and growth of our role models, helping them build confidence and authenticity. His focus is on creating a strong, values-led community where individuals feel empowered, aligned, and able to show up with purpose.

Working closely with the team, Andy creates safe spaces for learning and reflection, playing a key role in strengthening the structure behind the programme. He is passionate about unlocking potential, strengthening relationships, and ensuring every role model represents the movement with impact, inspiring the next generation to carry it forward.👏

More moments from the Building Hope event, where organisations from across Portsmouth came together to celebrate the work happening across our city and the impact being made every day.🦁

We are all very appreciative of Mountjoy, who brought together their team alongside all their incredible community partners to take part in the process, with 40 people sharing how they see, feel and experience our community through this lion.

We loved hearing about the vision behind this special Pride of Portsmouth Lion Trail piece. We can’t wait to see Hope finished and celebrate alongside so many incredible organisations this summer 🌞
