We have selected these three fabulous brooches from our 20th Anniversary Exhibition to showcase today.

1. Karen Bartlett. Bracelet 2008

Victoria Sewart Contemporary Jewellery Gallery was the first ever gallery to stock my work, which is really special to me. I was living and working in Plymouth at the time whilst undertaking a master’s degree at Birmingham School of Jewellery (2006-2008). This piece was part of my final collection that Victoria showcased in the gallery. I consider Victoria a very dear friend and I am grateful for her support.

2. Rachel Burlington Rachel Butlin | Mixed Material Jewellery

Boats and Buoys Brooch
It’s been so special to work with Victoria and the team over many years since I started creating mixed media jewellery. I wanted to create a special piece to celebrate the beautiful gallery location on the Barbican.

3. Helen Noakes Helen Noakes | Jewellery

Diving into the Unknown brooch
Thank you for giving my tiny jewellery stories a place to shine over the last 20 years. I am so proud to be part of this exhibition.

All the pieces featured today are for sale so please get in touch if you are interested. The exhibition web page is live and showcases all the work in the exhibition with the artist statements.

Today we’re showcasing three wonderful circular brooches in our 20yr anniversary exhibition.

1. Daphne Krinos

Round Geometry Set brooch, Inspired by an old box holding geometric shapes for school children that Daphne saw in a museum in Spain some years ago.

(“I decided to send a brooch because brooches are for me very important. This is how most of my designs start. They tie in well with my rings, which were what you had in one of your exhibitions from me”)

2. Diana Greenwood

Hydrangea Brooch
Inspired by Hydrangea Annabelle, one of Diana’s favourite plants in her garden. Shes always loved the abundance and softness of this hydrangea - the way the blooms gather together so generously. She wanted to capture a small part of the beauty and joy in something that can be worn and treasured.

3. Amanda Denison

Vestiges Brooch
Designed combining elements created before and after the pandemic. Its lines link past and present, marking what has changed, what we’ve lost and what remains - reflecting what once was and what is now.

(“My work was first shown at Victoria Sewart Contemporary Jewellery Gallery in 2017. Victoria took a chance on me in my early career, giving me my first show and creating a stunning display of my work. Victoria and her team have created a fabulous welcoming space dedicated to showcasing some of the very best in contemporary jewellery and championing new makers”)

All these fabulous brooches are for sale so please inquire if your interested 🩵

What a fabulous launch day yesterday for our 20 year anniversary exhibition!

The turnout was amazing despite the weather but the sun came out in the end!

I’m humbled and grateful to everyone involved in curating this big and fabulous exhibition and the incredible work from such talented jewellers. It’s been hard work but so rewarding 🙏

Look out for some great images from over the next few weeks who documented the day.

I’m exhausted in a nice way!..so time for a few days rest!

The show is on until the 4th July so plenty of time to visit!

Thank you, Victoria ###

What do you think?

In preparation for our 20th anniversary exhibition we have moved all designers work to the first floor of the gallery, with the upstairs space dedicated to the exhibition.

Every designer still has a display space and although this is in contrast to how we usually set out work with more space, we think we actually like it! What do you think? 💙
