A&M Smith Recycling Services Ltd are proud to announce that we have secured an extensive, long-term seven-year contract with MVV Environment Baldovie Ltd, for the supply of residual waste to their Energy from Waste Combined Heat and Power (CHP) facility, in Dundee, Scotland.
Through the strengthening of our good working relationship with this multi-national EFW operator, in addition to our environmental performance and recycling productivity initiatives, we will achieve our aim of improving diversion of residual wastes from landfill, from the current rate of 96%.
This will enhance sustainable development at A&M Smith Recycling Services, future-proofing our operations with respect to the Scottish Biodegradable Waste to Landfill Ban.
It will also contribute to our offshore and onshore customers achieving their sustainable development goals, illustrating the value of the waste management supply chain working together to optimize the waste hierarchy.

A & M Smith Recycling Services have recently acquired its first -and Aberdeenshire's first - fully electric skip lorry as part of its fleet. It has zero tailpipe emissions, low noise and excellent maneuverability, so is ideally suited for use in urban environments. It delivers significant CO₂ reduction in comparison to diesel. Charged at our Portlethen operating centre; the mission at AMS is to power our electric vehicles with renewable electricity produced from the sites 1 MW wind turbine. We aim for this to become operational by October 2026. Follow the updates on our journey to renewable energy production here.

Vacancies - Forklift Operators - Peterhead and Portlethen

We are currently seeking Forklift Operators for both our Peterhead and Portlethen facilities.

Duties include:
Checking of incoming loads against paperwork and logging and reporting of non-conformances.
To operate 6 Tonne up to 12 Tonne forklifts, including rotators, and the of managing the unloading, emptying, and re-loading of CCUs units, and other forklift related tasks at our busy Recycling Centres.
The candidate must have previous experience in a similar role and have, or previously had, B1 B2 and B3 Forklift Operating Certificates and be physically fit.
Applicants must be flexible, be able to work as part of a team, and be able to work on their own initiative while adhering to all safety, quality and environmental standards of the Company.
Must have a high standard of spoken and written English and be able to work under pressure while still being courteous to your colleagues and Customers at all times.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent.
Monday to Friday, Saturdays when required.
Overtime when required.

Job Vacancy - 2nd Man/Refuse Loader

We currently have a vacancy for a 2nd Man/Refuse Loader based at our Peterhead Depot.
Duties will include assisting the REL vehicle driver with Trade Waste Bin collections and ensuring safe maneuvering and access for the vehicle prior to entering sites.
Must have good spoken English, be able to work on your own initiative and have a pleasant nature, as customer relations are key in our business.
40 x hours per week, Monday to Friday. Good rates of pay and holiday entitlement.
