Hot enamel created from glass dust, coloured with oxides, transformed into a shiny, smooth surface in the searing heat of the kiln. Bonding to metal, either pure copper or silver, and hung with solid sterling silver.

I'm bringing a new selection of handmade pieces to Holt Sunday Market tomorrow. As well as some experimental pieces at special prices following a reformatting of my studio.

We’ve lots of exciting workshops at Walrus Studios in August and September- we’ve enamelled jewellery with Angela Humphrey and silver spoon rings with Emma from Beach Hut Charm; watercolour and mixed media painting with Sarah and ceramic pillar candlesticks and jug workshops plus a new beginners’ 3-week course with me. Plus, Fiona Gordon with a brand-new graphite pet portrait workshop. All our teachers are practising artists and makers and experienced teachers and all of our classes are beginner-friendly.

This jewellery was made at a recent private workshop that celebrated several special birthdays. The kiln was run outside due to searing temperatures. ( anything over just 25 degrees c and I start melting).

If you would like to book a private workshop over the autumn or winter please do get in touch. Beginners welcome. Most dates are now full but I can accommodate some evening or weekday workshops. My studio offers the chance to try the rolling mill to emboss / deboss textures, or patterns onto your designs and there is a larger kiln for larger art pieces or decorations made using copper.

Ancient Greek day at school....these parent crafting projects are the best fun!! Bed sheets, tissue paper, cardboard boxes, leftover present ribbon, and lots of sellotape!! This was a combined effort including sword made by Godfather.....creativity, arts and crafts are dwindling in school curriculums.....let's celebrate them whenever possible!! ###
