Just wanting to warn everyone about a phone scam I was made aware of yesterday. I have had a couple of calls in the last week telling me they had a missed call from my number, but I had not made any calls. It turns out this is called spoofing. It is when a caller changes their caller ID to someone else's number so it looks like that person has rung them when in fact it is somebody totally different. This can include changing the caller ID to your bank's telephone number or a random number like mine. I have been reading up on this and if you then call the missed number back this can be very costly as you may inadvertently ring a premium rate number or a number abroad. Please be very careful about who is ringing you and the numbers you ring back and I hope this raises awareness to avoid this kind of scam.
