same same but different

I’ve been racking my brains as to how I can post more consistently. This year I’ve done weeks of silence followed by six posts in 2 days and it’s just not sustainable - did I mention I have another job? 😉 So the look of my page will change a little bit, and I might not be releasing 3 designs at a time. There’ll be old designs revisited, posted again with funky new backgrounds and I’ll also be turning to you for content.

I want selfies, leafy backgrounds, pubs and group pics. I want to see my jewellery in its natural habitat, because let’s face it, me taking a selfie on the landing is not the natural habitat to a pair of my earrings ###

Meet the maker: again!

Hi everyone, some of you have been here since the beginning (I see you 👀) and some of you are new, but since starting Ali T Jewellery, a lot has changed so I’m gonna reintroduce myself.

My name is, you guessed it, Ali T. I’m 22, nearly 23 and I’ve just graduated from the University of Sussex in French and Spanish. I’m 6 weeks into my PGCE to become a Languages teacher at secondary school, so life has become rather full-on. As a result, Ali T Jewellery is going to see a couple of switch-ups, which will be detailed in the following post.

Anyway- I love languages, I love my puppy and I love meeting all you lovely people. This business has not only been a crafty side hustle, but has totally opened up my social sphere and introduced me to some talented and kind individuals. I’m really grateful for the relationships made through this venture.

To celebrate small businesses, here are some that I’m completely in-love with right now. They’re varied but all present a great business model, a personal vibe and some cool Instagram feeds so please have a peruse :

So here I find myself, 16 months on from my original launch an older, and wiser, business owner. These last months have been quiet as I’ve put all my efforts into graduating from my languages degree and starting my teacher training. Ali T Jewellery has taken a back seat recently and I think it’s important to acknowledge that behind all of these small businesses is an exhausted multi-tasker. Some of us have children, some of us other jobs, some of us are carers, and some just trying to care for themselves.

Whatever the background to the business, I speak for all owners when I say, “Thank you!”. Thank you for supporting small during a global pandemic. Thank you for buying my items instead of going through ASOS, or Amazon. Thank you for liking my posts. Yup- no shame here, asking for likes has been a controversial topic for a long time. It’s seen as begging, or desperate, but let’s face it - we need likes! Small businesses that run themselves through Instagram need likes. We need likes, we need shares, we need comments. It’s what churns us up on your feeds, it’s what throws us at unsuspecting non-followers, it’s what entices sales. So thank you for playing the game. We see you all, and we appreciate it so much.
