I am a self taught jewellery maker and have been creating jewellery since my early teens. I used to visit the underground market in Manchester and there was a stall there selling jewellery making materials and I was intrigued. I have always had to have things that are different and love things that are a bit "out there". I continued to make jewellery on and off and often made gifts for friends. I

first toyed with the idea of starting a small business making and selling jewellery in around 2006. Just as I started up, my husband had a serious accident and life was too complicated so I had to stop. Several years later, when I tookvoluntary redundancy, it seemed the perfect time to get my jewellery business up and running. I live in a former mill town that has transformed into a beautiful natural environment. There are lots of trees here now, hardly any mills left, steep hills and moorland with lots of nature and wildlife. It is the perfect place to live to make you feel creative and there are a lot of creatives who live here too. The natural environment is such an inspiration and often translates into my creations. As a small handcrafter, I have become friends with many more creatives online and, whenever possible, I try to support their businesses. I have friends all over the UK selling semi-precious stones, lampwork glass, silver and copper creations and, if they fit into my design, I will buy these items. I do only source the best quality materials and I am always researching new techniques to include in my designs. I do make a lot of "one of a kind" items and even some that could best be described as "wearable art". I do try to make pieces for all budgets and styles though as I appreciate that everyone loves to have a treat. I try to contrast colours and love adding vibrancy and texture to my pieces. I give every creation a name, like a good pair of shoes or a record. Bespoke requests welcome.

🩷 Beautiful "Theia" Bracelet 🩷

Made with copper wire wrapped solar quartz and bright pink snakeknotted bracelet. The bracelet is fastened with a large lobster clasp and I'll add a photo of this in the comments. This bracelet is roughly 22 cm long and 7mm thick. It needs to be a bit longer than usual bracelets to accommodate the thickness of the braiding - otherwise you wouldn't be able to fasten it. It is a nice close fit without being tight for most people. Measure a well fitting bracelet end to end (including fastener) to see if this is a good fit for you.

At the moment, my shop has gone a bit "awry" and I will add another post to explain. Therefore, if you are interested in any of my jewellery then please drop me a PM. I will add further detail in the comments too otherwise this post won't get shown to anyone‼️

Happy Friday everyone. I am still here and I am working away on things and hoping to get myself up and running properly for the start of spring - weekend commencing 1st February.

I have been making jewellery including finishing off some unfinished projects and putting together some new ones. Expect plenty of pieces inspired by nature and there maybe some things that start to take a darker twist (although they may not be ready quite as soon).

Whatever you are doing. I hope you have an amazing weekend.

🌊 "Atlantis" Necklace 🌊

This stunning oceanic necklace is made with a gleaming lampwork glass lentil-shaped pendant by the super talented lampwork glass artist, Jolene Wolfe. The clear glass encapsulates swirls of green and turquioise. The pendant bail is wire-wrapped copper to add security with the addition of premium Austrian crystal for extra sparkle, in a complimentary green with a mirror finish.

The pendant is suspended from a double coin knot made with contrasting green and turquoise satin shamballa cord. The necklace has then been completed by using the snake knot technique, finished off with a copper lobster clasp.

This is a real standout piece of jewellery that will not get lost amongst even the most spectacularly sophisticated outfits and would be perfect for someone who loves more natural style jewellery.

💎 Crystaltipsie is back 💎

After quite a long ⌛️ hiatus, I am back. Many things have changed whilst I have been away doing other things, so there will be some changes here. More than anything, the cost of everything has shot up and this will, unfortunately, feed into the cost of my items. Therefore, if you would like any items of jewellery that are currently available, now is the time to grab them‼️

✉️ The cost of postage has risen incredibly. I won't use unreliable carriers like EVRI etc. and have never had a parcel lost using Royal Mail so far. I won't send second class post as this means that items are in the system longer and more likely to get lost. As the majority of the items I make are one-offs, if a parcel gets lost, that means it will cause a big headache for me as it will be unlikely I can replicate your item. The process for me would be taking ages to make an item, sending it to you, it getting lost and then I would have to refund you. I am just not going to do that. Therefore, my items will still be sent Royal Mail "Signed For" First Class Large Letter. This means the item is also insured up to a certain amount in case it does get lost. The weight included in this postal method is 100grams so, the way to make the postage worth it is to buy a few items at a time. The cost would roughly cover three items so you could maybe get a gift for a friend at the same time. Just an idea anyway.

As always, if you live locally, you are welcome to come round and look at items first and I'll even make you a coffee if you would like. There is also a click and collect option on every item I upload.

There is no such thing as free P&P. Large outlets can cover that by spreading it across the massive amount of items they shift. Smaller sellers have to add that cost onto their items and it inflates the price of their items so they might just get overlooked. The other alternative means they have to reduce the cost of their items so they are working for hardly any profit.

📧 My printer is broken and I need to find another. After having a real mare with HP Instant Ink and them keep taking subscriptions but not supplying any ink, our printer has now been disabled by them. This seems a familiar story when we've Googled it so, suffice it to say, we will not be getting another HP printer. Any recommendations for a colour printer/scanner for fairly low use would be welcome. The upshot of this is I can't currently print invoices or packing notes. The options are that I can .pdf them and email them to you or you can have an old-School written receipt. If you do want a .pdf, please PM me your email address or include it in the notes field on the item.

🔗The Facebook algorithms pick up links in posts and then the posts are not shown to anyone. Therefore, I will have to put the item links in comments. If I forget, please just comment and I will post the link as soon as I see your comment. It's a nuisance and just makes things even more hard work. The cost of items (again I have to carefully word this) will be included in the information via the link I post. If you see one of my items in a Facebook Story, if you click on it, this will take you to the actual item listing. I will try to add stories for every item I post.

Things have changed a lot but I will do my best to keep you updated and I am hoping to get a lot of new jewellery created in the near future. As time has moved on, so have I, so do expect some differences in what I make. I still have a lot of materials that I have ready and waiting to be created into new pieces, so there should still be a familiar vibe.

For those of you who are still here and to those of you who have read all this, thank you. If you could give me a like or love or a comment, it would be lovely so I know you have seen this post.

Thank you ❤️

Today is Ostara/the spring equinox. What could be prettier to wear than this beautiful choker necklace in pastel spring colours? I've made a few of these over the years and they are all different due to the variety of crystal points and colours I use.

Ostara choker necklace made with titanium coated quartz points and faceted Czech crystal. A beautiful choker with pastel coloured quartz points in turquoise, pink, purple and blue that sparkle and symbolise new beginnings, flowers and the awakening of nature.

This choker necklace will not choke you as it is made with a full loop of memory wire plus an inch more for a comfortable fit that will sit just above your collarbone. This choker is finished off with a sterling silver hook and eye fastener to make it easy to put on (plus that adds a little to the size of the choker too). Made with bright, fresh colours with the added sparkle of Czech crystal beads. Perfect to wear with a floaty dress. A piece that will definitely be noticed. Not only is it pretty, it is very unusual too.

Ostara, or Eostre or Eastre, is the Germanic Goddess of spring and dawn. She is only mentioned once in scholarly writings of the period – Bede the monk states that during Eostremonath (the old Anglo-Saxon names for April), the pagan Anglo-Saxons held festivals in her honor. (Two hundred years later in Germany, in his Life of Charlemagne, a monk named Einhard gives the old name for April as Ostaramonath.) She is also mentioned in a number of inscriptions in Germany, and the modern holiday of Easter – originally the name for the spring Equinox, but later subsumed to the Paschal calendar for the Christian resurrection holiday – is named for her. The name “Eostre” (Old Germanic “Ostara”), is related to that of Eos, the Greek goddess of dawn, and both can be traced back to a Proto-Indo-European goddess of dawn.

Found worldwide, Quartz comes in every possible colour. Quartz stores energy and is often used in the manufacture of watches and other timekeeping items. Quartz oscillates at such a precise frequency, timepieces with a quartz movement keep perfect time. Quartz is said to aid concentration and can help you recover faded memories.

"Ocean Wave" swirly lampwork glass heart shaped wire wrapped pendant in a cool coastal palette of turquoise, white and silver. This lampwork glass is made by one of my favourite lampwork designers, Trudi Doherty. I have added white crackle quartz and premium crystal for some extra sparkle. The pendant is hung from an 18 inch sterling silver rolo chain and attached through a split ring for added security.

Perfect for a Valentine's gift, especially for lovers of the coast. It comes presented in a voile gift bag. All details, including secure checkout via the link in the comments.

My Story

I am a self taught jewellery maker and have been making jewellery since my early teens when I used to visit the underground market in Manchester and buy jewellery components from the stall there. As a person who likes to have something that is different and not mass manufactured, jewellery making seemed to be a natural direction to go in after I took voluntary redundancy from my previous position.

Despite my living in a former milltown, my jewellery could definitely not be described as run of the mill. I handcraft original jewellery using semi-precious stones, Swarovski Crystal, glass, sterling silver, artisan lampwork glass and other beautiful materials. I always try to support British crafters by buying the jewellery components they make.

I am always looking at new jewellery making techniques and materials and spend a lot of my time doing research just to find out what is out there. I try to make things that are “different” and do make a lot of one of a kind items. I would describe some of them as wearable pieces of art. Sometimes, my jewellery is quite simple because I will let the materials speak for themselves if that is what is right. I try to mix materials to add contrasting colours and to add different shapes and flow to my items.

In normal times, jewellery can be made to order and I am happy to quote for commissions/bespoke items. If you would like something a bit different and have an idea in your head, do get in touch and see what I can do to bring your vision to reality. I do need some direction from you as to the item you want, colour, materials etc. Please note, I do require payment upfront for any bespoke requests. At the moment though, I am not able to fulfill this kind of request due to the current situation. I do hope to be able to start to do this again though in the future.
