When I first started working on the Onyx version, I’ll admit I was hesitant. After using so many saturated colours in my previous designs, I was concerned that moving to a monochromatic palette might feel too "quiet" and understated. I couldn't have been more wrong!
By stripping away the colour, the architectural details of the watch have become clearer before. The deep, light-absorbing natural Onyx dial creates a high-contrast stage that allows the light to catch every aspect of the dial and case without interruption.
What's under the hood
The Dial: multiple applied metal layers, surrounding the perfectly polished, natural Onyx complement the architectural shape of the case and attract light from as many angles as possible. All of this is topped with cast, BGW 9 Luminova markers - further enhancing the 3d effect,
The Movement: A heavily modified Miyota 9039 featuring bespoke bridges with a sunray pattern and the Welsh dragon engraved onto the balance c**k,
The Rotor: A custom full-circle rotor, inspired by a local archaeological find—bringing a piece of history to your wrist,
The Case: 39mm 316L Stainless Steel case, 10 ATM water resistance, and a sapphire crystal with multi-layer AR coating,
The Bracelet: the completely custom, stainless steel bracelet was designed with comfort and quality in mind. Every link is made out of 7 separate pieces with alternating finishes, spare links are held in with screws and the clasp features an on-the-fly micro adjustment system.
