A range of playful pieces that exist in an alternate realm. Bold, minimal and contemporary handcrafted jewellery by designer Rebecca Gladstone.

Jewellery inspired by myth, symbolism, folklore, nature, fairy tales, surrealism & historical aesthetics, woven into contemporary narratives to create a collection of spirited, whimsical pieces. Using traditional silversmithing and casting techniques Rebecca founded her label just under three years ago working from her studio in Hackney East London. Hand-forming, moulding, shaping and casting in a

range of precious metals. Rebecca says “I wanted my work to feature minimal forms, geometric shapes and spaces. These pieces are designed to be an extension of the wearer not an intrusion. My focus is on the linear and pared down geometric forms creating a minimal, bold but classic style of jewellery with interchangeable pieces. Utilising simplicity, angles and polished silver to give impact Rebecca’s Geometrics collection draws inspiration from structural forms and the spaces between things for a contemporary line in minimalist jewellery. This weekend is the Pop-Up event Saturday and Sunday 10-4pm!

I’m really proud of forming this little collective alongside and .grand we really wanted to find a way to pull together all the incredible local jewellery talent here in Margate with some curated in person selling events, exhibitions and just generally promoting and highlighting all the wealth of talent we have based here.

Regrettably I’ve gone and got myself in a bit of a pickle by not managing stress levels and have been hit with a nasty bout of shingles and sadly won’t be taking part. 🫠

I just wanted to encourage everyone to pop along if you can and meet the makers in person, have a chat with them about their process and take a look at all the incredible, unique and varied offerings from the designers. There is something there for everyone and hopefully you will make a purchase or two!

A collection of unique one of a kind pieces, all threads pulled from a larger body of developing work launching in 2026. Part 1 of Archive sale launching tomorrow.

As the new collection comes into being I have been absorbing, transmuting and drawing ideas from a bubbling cauldron of influences and inspirations.

My love for historical jewels the Victorian era in particular resonates, their motifs and playful use of symbolism in their designs and the imagined echoes of the past lives of those that wore them. Whispers from the edge of forests where tendrils creep and the unknown beckons all fuse with inspirations drawn from a few female surrealist artists and the alternate realms they inhabit.

In particular is the work and life of the bohemian surrealist artists Gertrude Abercrombie also known as “The Jazz Witch” born in 1909 “a tall woman who dressed elaborately with leopard print coats, capes and pointy witches hats” she established a salon of Chicago’s jazz scene in her fading Victorian Brownstone and became a critical figure in the mid 20th century jazz and art scene.

Her witchy surrealism and its repertoire of ciphers including ailing trees, gloves, shells, the moon, eggs, carnations, cats, owls, fairytale towers and hingeless doors all conjure a mysterious and unsettling mood. A spirit of magic and lucid dreaming imbue her work. Her paintings often depict a lone solitary woman in an isolated landscape and I like to imagine I am making a collection of jewels for her to debut on her staircase to nowhere.
