Just finished a talk on contemporary jewellery and in the for some members. Not given a talk for a few years since I gave up teaching in 2021 after 27 years in an array of colleges and a university too! Think I still got it! 🤪

I love making rings and I am really proud of this ring. I made it for an exhibition where each jeweller was given a silver band to make something with it. I have always loved sculpture and the way things are constructed in every day life. I am enjoying making larger pieces again after a hiatus. Watch this space!

I have had the most inspiring two weeks getting out and about seeing inspiring art, music, theatre and catching up with friends! I was particularly moved by the Thomas Adés piano recital at Halle St Peter’s yesterday. He has a phenomenal talent 💥

Studio day today… I am concentrating on making new nest pieces for an exhibition in June details to follow…working on a diamond wedding ring and doing a bit of research for exhibition pieces! Hopefully my order with come from the bullion dealer so I can crack on! ❤️

First full day at the bench. Delighted to be back in work after my op and even more delighted to have my favourite lunch from the best ham sandwich ever!

It’s not been a very productive day so far as I am taking it easy, a spot of cleaning, rejiging displays and now making a list of what I’ve got to make. Work for exhibitions, a new supplier and a few commissions, this year is going to be a good one!

So lovely to be back in the studio today for a few hours after 8 weeks off recovering from an op. Lovely to see my crafty neighbours and get some headspace to think about my work! First job was tidying up my bench and looking at what I had started before I went off. Can’t wait to get back there on Tuesday and get my hands dirty.

Finding it hard to work in the freezing studio at the moment.
It’s always hard to get back into work after the Christmas break of total rest for two weeks. Finally getting going! I enjoyed making a screw thread with this mini tap & die set for a diamond earring this morning. I really enjoy the making process! Lucky to be doing what I love!

Now working on work for an exhibition later on in the year. Lots of exciting things happening in Manchester in September! Have a good week all!
