Today’s prompt is “How do you start the day?”

Well, my morning routine, for the last nearly 19 years has been based around getting children up, washed, dressed and off to school/college on time. Now that they’re older, there not so much of the washing and dressing part as they can manage that for themselves (just about 😂), but much more shouting “are you awake” outside of bedroom doors. I always take the grunting noises that follow that to mean that they are, and most of the time, they manage to leave the house in time to catch their school/college bus!

Work wise, I think I’m going to swop this around to “how do you ‘end’ your day”, as since I bought my beautiful Durston oak bench (almost 4 years ago now!), I’ve always made time leave it looking tidy at the end of each day, so that it’s all ready for me to start work the next morning. It’s kind of like making the bed, it it just makes me smile every morning when I see it all neat and tidy, and waiting for me to make it messy again!!

Good morning lovelies!

It seems that another jewellery studio has been set up at Ta**us Crafts (despite them ending my contract and telling me they needed the space back for their own use!!) that looks virtually the same as my studio that I worked extremely hard to set up!

So this post is just to clarify that this is NOT me and The Studio Jewellery School is NOT back at Ta**us Crafts.

It’s a shame that the new tenant couldn’t think of their own ideas and has chosen to blatantly copy my room design/layout of the space. My new studio build is under way and will be way better than the previous one…and I’m “trying” to feel flattered that they obviously thought the way I had designed the space was so good that they wanted to copy it.

Starting 2023 by sharing a new account that I’ve set up to follow my new Instagram account -

I want to keep this account just for jewellery, but if you like pics of muddy boots, screws, nails, insulation, solar panels etc, please do give (on Instagram) a follow!

Today is a bit of a sad day, as following Wendy delivering her last workshop, the Studio Jewellery School has now permanently closed its doors at Ta**us Crafts. Unfortunately Wendy has decided not to continue teaching at The Studio’s new “eco-home”, so I’d like to thank her for the time she’s spent teaching with us, and wish her well with her future plans.

HOWEVER…This is anything but the end, in fact, it’s just the beginning, as after Christmas, it’s going to be full steam ahead creating The Studio’s new purpose built off-grid eco-home. It’s just a mile down the road in Alvington, so you won’t have to travel far to visit, whether it’s for a commission consultation, to buy a ready to wear piece, or to take part in a workshop or jewellery making class.

Good morning and thank you so much for all of your support over the last few days. All the comments, messages and the few lovely words from the people I’ve seen in real life have really kept me going.

It’s a crap time of year to have to be taking apart what I’ve worked so hard to build, and I’m very up and down over it all, but I’m doing my best to think about what’s to come and how I’m going to create something so much better.

The photos are from yesterday’s saw piercing workshop (the last I’ll run in The Studio Jewellery School’s current location). This one was Christmas themed, and definitely plan to offer more along a different theme later in the year. During the workshop, we also spoke about how you can turn (or “raise” to use the correct term) a flat disk of copper into a three dimensional bowl. Again, watch this space on that one…I’m thinking along the lines of an outdoor summer workshop.

I need a map to stick pins in! Yesterday’s couple drove all the way from London to make their wedding rings at my studio!
They’d been given a voucher to spend with and out of all the 1000’s of options on there, they chose me! 😁

So, yesterday, they learned how to anneal, form, solder, file, polish, and Ruth even engraved a beautiful Art Deco style pattern on her ring.

Neither of them had done any jewellery making before, so they both be incredibly proud of their fantastic wedding rings! 🔨🔥💍💚
