Many watch collectors may already know that most watch movements can usually be identified by a factory and calibre mark under the balance. Sometimes, if a retailer or 'watchmaker' wants to hide the fact that they've not made the movement themselves, they cut this out. It's so STUPID because we all know what was there before you cut that random bore, Montre Royale. Why would you waste my time like that, now I have to look up the calibre based on the keyless mechanism and OH LOOK you still didn't make this movement did you. What do you think you're bloody hiding from us.

An Omega 503 recently serviced taking some time for testing as a movement before it's reassembled and re-tested. This work takes lots of careful checking every step of the way. Sometimes it's two steps forward one step back, sometimes it's no steps forward and three steps back to catch a small issue causing a problem.

A Landeron 51 after 👈 and before 👉 servicing and repair. It was quite damaged; most of the keyless mechanism was so rust...

A Landeron 51 after 👈 and before 👉 servicing and repair. It was quite damaged; most of the keyless mechanism was so rusted it was unsalvageable but thankfully a lot of the movement just needed some visual improvements. It's not restored to as-new but that wasn't the goal here, it's keeping the signs and marks of age and it's life.

Another rubber drive wheel replacement and another portescap movement saved. This one is inside a Jaeger Le Coultre clock with a lapis effect dial. This video is slowed down to 1/8th speed.
