Blue Paua shell ring

I’ve been slowly crafting away for the last month and have a bunch of things i want to show you eventually, i just haven’t gotten round to it yet. but i will, soon.

I’ve forced myself to schedule some posts for this week in advance lol 😭

I’m currently feeling very blocked and suffocated artistically, so I’m trying not to push myself too hard to avoid the whole crashing out and suddenly despising something that I used to love thing that i do.

sucks when things happen and you begin to associate something you’re passionate about with back to back negative experiences.

minor psa out there, try not to hate crime your classmates, and if you REALLY have to, try avoid setting them on fire too, both is a bit much! 😊

second casting of an original sand cast silver ring

apologies for my month long inactivity!

truthfully I am feeling particularly demotivated as of current, I haven’t felt like I’m learning or progressing whatsoever in the way I’d intended this year, and the lack of progress is honestly starting to bring me down more than just a little. i’d normally be excited to return to college to use the tools, but due to an ongoing situation in class, I honestly dread going back.

I’ve been working quietly on some projects at home, but honestly have been far less motivated to finish or continue them.

here are two rings made from an original wax cast. weighing about 30 grams combined, it’s a lot more silver than I typically work with, but I’m really enjoying the solid feeling and heaviness of these new rings.

mini brass treasure chest

In all honesty I am definitely losing the plot now, I started this last week and then went mental all weekend after I realised my two little torches simply aren’t hot enough to solder brass, so I had to wait until Monday morning and it legitimately felt like fighting for my life.

This is absolutely not what I was supposed to be doing in class at all, and I now have to catch up with the tasks I was actually meant to complete. I can only yell at myself for this in hindsight.

but treasure chest so I won.

13 gram solid silver sandcast Signet ring & wax model 💍

This term things have switched up and we’re back to casting. I’ve historically been quite s**t with wax, I broke the signet I was carving before this because I was particularly clumsy that day.

I got really pi**ed off and was like screw this actually, but I gave it one last shot anyway, and my casting actually worked first time!!

I’ve got photos of the ring all the way through the process so thought I’d share them here. :)

Amethyst & Citrine split ring 💜🧡

Every so often my girlfriend comes to me with a gemstone and a concept that makes me want to saw through my own fingers and blowtorch my face off. With that being said, the ideas she have push me to places where I’m achieving a higher and higher quality of work.

For our anniversary, I was gifted a little box of baguette citrines, and when I saw the amethyst she’d bought herself alongside my new baguettes, I knew we had to do something with the two stones together. So if anything I’d really made things worse for myself.. don’t let me talk again.

Anyway I love how this came out, I proceeded to immediately make myself a smaller version using citrine and peridot as we only had the one amethyst! Considering this is my first craft in a while I am happy and proud haha :)

18ct baby bangle repurposed into a ring for my index finger.

When I was born, my grandmother bought what used to be a tiny baby bangle (that almost still fit, I just have weird hands) and after having my mother show me ALL her gold, we found it, and I wanted to do something with it to make it at least wearable in some way.

I’ve never been a huge bangle girl, before I got into jewellerymaking I actually used to just wander around with my only big accessory being my Apple Watch, and I’m literally fused to that as of current, so decided to make a ring that I’d likely wear much more often instead, as I have a chain bracelet I’m equally as attached to now.

Weird ending trauma dump here but on Friday I find out if i do in fact have cancer or not, so once that nonsense is over (🤞🏽) I’m gonna be happy to have more time to focus solely on jewellery instead of freaking out every half hour on repeat. I don’t like using my blowtorch while anxious, sorry for my inactivity :’)

Bloodstone pendant with pink Tourmaline accent stone 🩷

Happy new year! I hope everyone’s had a really restful holiday season. :)

I have not, and as I’ve been so run off my feet recently, I’ve hardly had any time to work on anything I’ve intended to, and when I have had a second, I’ve just needed to decompress from everything else going on.

On Christmas Day, I gave myself half an hour, and I made this pendant! Over the last few days I’ve been slowly polishing and finishing it, and I’ve finally got a somewhat presentable photo of it to show you!

I wanted to use a little tourmaline to highlight the bright colours of the bloodstone I was using, so I chose this pretty pink one and I pulled off what I was attempting to do. :)

Dainty Ruby pendant with hidden initials

Most people likely aren’t agreeing to take on commissions days before Christmas, but when a family friend of mine asked if I was willing to do a last little job before I packed up for the holidays, I just knew I had it in me. :) We spent yesterday planning, and then I started working today on the 22nd.

This is a little ruby pendant designed for his girlfriend, with his initials running down the back, made to sit against her chest.

I rarely work this small, and I wouldn’t typically say in th past I have enjoyed it, but this actually taught me multiple lessons along the way, and I’m pleased to have made such a gorgeous little pendant in such a rush!

Reworked Carved Serpentine pendant w accent sapphire🌿

I found a stash of rings I made last year, and decided to pull the stone from this one. Initially this was intended to be another ring, but I forgot I have small fingers, and it ended up bigger than I wanted it to be, so I adjusted it and turned it into a pendant! :)
