Silver Sunday

Silver Sunday Age UK’s Silver Sunday – A national day where we can all come together to celebrate older people through free activities and events across the UK.

(next 4th October 2026). Held on the first Sunday of October every year, Age UK's Silver Sunday is a celebration of older residents and their contribution to their communities. Through a variety of free and fun activities, people over 65 are given a chance to keep active in body and spirit, try new things, meet their neighbours and, ultimately, overcome loneliness and isolation. It is also an oppo

rtunity to encourage good relations between young and older people. Silver Sunday was launched in 2012 by The Lady Flight, previously the City of Westminster’s Older People’s Champion, after she found out that more than a third of people over 75 said they were lonely. She wanted to do something to celebrate older residents and to help them get out and about, meet new people and generally have a fun time. Silver Sunday 2025 is on 5th October. Everyone can get involved in the big day, whether that’s signing up for an activity, organising their own Silver Sunday event, or simply promoting the day and letting other know about what’s on.
