Though usually camera shy… a big thank you to for these lovely portraits. A privilege to watch a master craftsman at work behind the camera.

Taken to mark 40 years anniversary, these photos form part of a group of portraits of 40 makers.

During London Craft Week Cockpit Studios are presenting their first multimedia exhibition featuring these portraits, plus video and a showcase of pieces crafted by Cockpit makers.

Visitors can explore the exhibition on Tuesday 12 May, 12-6pm.

are celebrating 40 years as a leading hub of craftspeople. Open Studios this June will be very special!

There will be over 100 makers and designers showing at Cockpit Bloomsbury - with many new talents and a curated showcase across the myriad of disciplines one finds here.

Here is my necklace inspired by the neck coils worn by Kayan women in Myanmar.

One of my favourite pieces - I love wearing this necklace - it makes me feel empowered. Bold but so comfortable to wear - lightweight and gently moulding to my body shape.

Just before lockdown fell (and the military junta tragically took control), I had the privilege to visit Myanmar and a Kayan community there.

I have always been uncomfortably drawn to the neck coils - see my ‘Stacking’ necklace design - and was curious to explore at first hand what the coils meant for the women of the Kayan community.

The first image is of a grandmother & granddaughter (no coils, her choice, great). The grandmother was indomitable and made jewellery (mainly for visitors).

Compelled to explore moulding leather after the inspirational workshop at last week…

This is work in progress - perhaps a brooch when its ready to turn into a finished wearable piece…

Drawn to the freeform leather folds beyond the confines of the hand stitched frame. Happy to be experimenting once again… a new journey.
