A Closer Look | Antoinette

Antoinette in our Seun Collection; captured by Jess Rose Bird.
I love the fluidity of Jess’s work; the expressive brushstrokes, the way her marks feels natural and instinctive. There’s a rawness that felt very fitting alongside the erosive textures and imperfect surfaces of my jewellery.

Although created in completely different mediums, there’s a shared sense of movement, of something being shaped by the hand, rather than made perfectly uniform. I love seeing the two worlds together.

Counting down to the online launch of Seun; thank you Jessica Rose Bird for capturing Antoinette Tracey in MOMA HILO | Responsible Womenswear Made in the UK our Seun Campaign so beautifully.

Seun - Scottish Gaelic for charm, pronounced /she-un/ - explores the talisman as an object of protection, intention and meaning. Inspired by the discovery of a naturally formed holed stone, or ‘adder stone’, on my family farm, the collection draws on the circle as a symbol of continuity and protection in Scottish and Celtic visual language.

As a Scottish jeweller, commissioning the work of another Scottish artist feels particularly meaningful to me; Jess’ distinctive visual language felt like such a natural fit.

For this series, I commissioned Jess to reinterpret our campaign imagery in her own hand; creating a new perspective on the jewellery and the people wearing it.

This is just the beginning; Jess has created a series of artworks for the launch of my newest collection, Seun. Looking forward to sharing more very soon.

Building Stories |
Since settling back into the studio in London, we’ve had some wonderful appointments this week. From clients choosing engagement rings, commitment rings or adding to their stacks to celebrate weddings or anniversaries, I love hearing your stories in person and helping you choose the right pieces for you.
