Always nice to go back to basics.

Picked up a drawstring bag while sorting scrubs into sizes with and this floral bag looked way too familiar. There were about 20 pink floral bags in a bag.

After scrolling through our image gallery we found these images of some of the fabric boxes we sent to at the beginning of lockdown. It's hard to believe since then the bag team have made thousands and thousands of drawstring bags from home which have been donated across the community in and other parts of east (with fabrics donated from different sources). The future is , and (and drawstring instead of plastic bags and wrapping paper).

A strange ask for a platform that survives on the unwanted textiles of others. But over the crisis we've all done a little spring clean? As a result we've seen people desperately wanting to just get rid of stuff and dumping it outside places, believing that someone will pick it up and make use of it.

(If you read on we have solutions too)
We are given all sorts. And during the crisis as we work with we have received more. But we cannot make use of absolutely everything. We can only imagine how much charity stores must take on. Many of the places we would normally give to are also in lockdown. Also facing the crisis. And that means they cannot sort through piles of waste as they usually would - yet!

will announce a webinar discussing this. In the meantime headover to and have a look at the article written which breaks this down how COVID is affecting thrift stores and charities.

We are a huge believer in human kindness but in the same breath a hater of waste, while we are figuring out this new world together, we need to ask people if they want our seconds. It's the same mindset that has meant many countries in the East and Africa have piles of Western waste. And it looks like our thrift stores and charity stores are feeling it too (this was already an issue pre - COVID, 80% of donated items don't even make it on the shelves)

SOLUTIONS ----
Before donating please find out exactly what the receiver needs. Most of the time they will tell you, and they might highlight why. If you have things that can be given away hold onto them until the crisis is over. Someone somewhere will make use of it, but it needs to land in the right hands.

Join a mutual aid group or a local group and ask. Or sell, there is nothing wrong with making a little cash. It's a little more work but at least it can have a lovely 2nd home.

We must be responsible for our waste in the new world.

Pass it on. Lockdown is a time for crafting and un learning. Yep even donations will be a little different after all of this is over x

Love love love.

Once upon time those who cared about people and the planet would have been classed as hippies, maybe delusional or a little out of touch with the real world. Today, we'd say the need for change is driven by a)desperation but b) love. The genuine hurt people feel when they see injustice, the social programmes bridging together communities, the REAL activities who are pushing policy makers and changing rules to bring about change and breakthrough.

Call it a millennial thing or a gen Z thing. But we see it as a human thing. And it's interesting having these conversations with pre-teens and kids.

Pretty screen printed Tshirt made by a child last half term.

Keep your eyes open for future workshops across South and East!
