Channeling my inner Dexter! 😅

Floor and windows fully protected before tackling the removal of long-established woodchip from the walls and ceiling.

This stage can get very wet and messy, so setting up a proper protective divide is essential to keep everything clean and under control. 💪🛠️

Love my job - It's varied, challenging and every day is different.

I have a few clients that book me a week at a time and we fit as many odd jobs in as possible. Great fun, getting lots of small tasks completed. Alongside re-painting the through-lounge, I fixed their kids buggy with a new part, erected a shed, painted the front door (and adjusted the dodgy hinges), mounted X2 TVs and buried the wires, mounted a sound bar, painted X2 fireplaces, repaired and repainted the front bay ledge, built a kids bed, converted a cot, built a TV unit etc

Last job of the year in South Woodford.
A full 9-day transformation, stripping woodchip wallpaper from the walls and ceiling, followed by thorough preparation of all surfaces — including the built-in wardrobes and UPVC windows.

The preparation was by far the longest part. Thankfully the walls were not too bad once stripped, however they still needed the old wallpaper adhesive removed, plaster sealed, imperfections filled etc.

Finished with undercoats and topcoats in Farrow & Ball colours:
• Ceiling in Light Grey
• Door in Dibber
• Walls, woodwork, wardrobes, and even the windows (for this I used Zinnser Allcoat which proved to be a perfect match) in Old White.
The result is a beautifully soft, mellow green tone throughout, although the photos really don’t do justice.
Hard work, but incredibly rewarding — the perfect way to finish the year. ✨🎨

Hallway and landing transformation for one of my returning clients.

The client put in a huge amount of effort themselves — tackling both floors with mist coats after new plaster. I offered advice along the way on materials and methods to make sure everything was done to a high standard.

There was still plenty of work to do, including:
• Stripping the handrail back to bare wood and finishing it in Osmo Clear Topoil
• Ceilings finished in Tikkurila Anti-Reflex 2
• Walls in Johnstone’s Durable Acrylic (Dulux Cotton White)
• Woodwork in prime and finished in Johnstone's Aqua Guard Satin
• New light switches, sockets, ceiling roses, and pendants for a fresh, finished look
• Bespoke framed wallpaper panelled feature wall

A great example of teamwork and attention to detail — the end result really lifts the whole space.

I really love painting bespoke units. Not so much when the carpenter leaves me loads of prep, but in this case I got lucky - spot on work to this person.

Working with my client and her examples, I advised using Oval Room Blue (farrow and ball) and had it mixed in Johnstone's Aqua Guard Matt. Not only do I find the match spot on, but as the name suggests it provides a clean hard-wearing Matt finish.

This sink was hanging on for dear life, but a quick remount and a brand-new tap later — it’s looking fresh again!
Sometimes the small fixes are the most satisfying 💪

Had fun sprucing up this front entrance and installing a new sensor light.

Zinsser Allcoat is a lifesaver for external work, as it covers well with minimal prep (although I did sand and clean down everything anyway). Door colour: Little Greene - Scree Eggshell.

Small kitchen face lift in .

Have worked for these clients a few times and it's always a pleasure to come back.

I had painted their cabinets once before, but they were ready for another change, along with replacing the worktop.

First step was to modify the current sink unit to accommodate a new butler sink. Created a sturdy pine shelf for the sink to sit on and repurposed the door.

After the usual prep, I painted the kitchen cabinetry in Little Green - Normandy Grey and a few top coats of decorators varnish fora durable flat Matt finish.

Lastly, I have the walls and woodwork a quick once over.

Sanding back the surface with rough to super fine grit to make a clean and smooth surface. Clean the surface with some methylated spirits and re-oiled with Osmo Polyx Raw.

Handmade industrial shelves made from grade A scaffold boards.

Cut, sanded with 60, 120 and 240 grit and finally finished with Danish Oil.

The final product is bigger and cheaper (even including labour) than the premade stuff you find online and of course bespoke.

More fiddly than you think (well just a lot of drilling to be honest) but these acoustic panels in this office space look pretty sweet.

The client moved into their new home recently and works from home so wanted a nice office which doubles up as a little sound mixing area.

Firstly I had to remove some old wallpaper and re-skim. Around the window I found the wall was falling to pieces (the window fitters did a poor job which let moisture in) so had to repoint the bricks, fill and skim. Finally after all of this, I could paint ceiling, walls and mount the panels.

Need help with a project? Please drop me a line.

Cheers,

Russell
