This is a particularly rare piece of Cartier jewellery, and one with a fascinating story behind it.
Cartier’s Mandala creations are rare, bespoke and limited high-jewellery designs, inspired by the spiritual circle motifs found in Hinduism and Buddhism.
Rather than being part of a mass-produced collection, each Mandala is an expression of Cartier’s high-jewellery artistry, often combining intricate geometry with exceptional gemstones and materials.
And this necklace is a stunning example.
At the centre is a striking 70 millimetre pendant, featuring brilliant and Asscher cut diamonds laid over a carved rock crystal backing.
The geometric design creates this incredible sense of movement, while the rock crystal allows light to pass through the piece, adding even more depth and dimension.
This necklace is set with approximately 30 carats of diamonds, graded E-F in colour and VVS to VS in clarity, suspended from Cartier’s iconic diamond chain.
It can also be worn at two different lengths, either as an elegant opera length necklace or shortened to a matinee length.
