Introducing Yuki Sasakura Assiter
“My collections are inspired by the positive events in my life, my environments, and my travels through my Japanese background. I am drawn to the concept of jewellery as an amulet, connecting it to personal backgrounds, experiences, and beliefs. Through investigating the history and traditions of amulets and integrating personal personalities, I aim to discover new meanings and functions. In doing so, I create new positive beliefs to be shared with others.
The combination of metal and textures particularly interests me, and I have developed techniques to replicate textures resembling fabric or natural objects such as dead corals and stones found during my travels. My technique combines organic forms with gems and textured metals through hammering and etching. I explore textures, shapes, and patterns derived from traditional embroidery and textiles. I am committed to using recycled, upcycled, and ethical materials in my work.”
