Athena's Symptoms to a Tee plus many many more...

She is speaking up now and, She wants me to speak up too.

I watched her suffer with unexplained, strange and severe sympyoms for years and years.

Her abuser watched me take her back and forth to hospital. No explainations each time, negative test results. Just confusion.

I video'd all of her bizzarre symptoms when they happened to show doctors and consultants. She went through specialist tests - They were negative.

Her abuser watched her deteriorate and watched me scramble to pick up the pieces.

Body pains so bad she could not walk.

Those who flip the script will say im manipulative and she is just a child.... Far from the truth.

She spoke up. That's what actually happened. That's the truth.

Athena hasn't had the passion to make or be creative for a long time. She has stopped dancing and stopped making music... but she has lot's of friends who keep her busy. Whatever makes her happy — I will support always.

⭐️An update on Athena (following on from the post dated 1st May 2024): ⭐️

Her neurological symptoms were indeed cleared. Tests clear.
In addition to coeliac disease and associated symptoms she was diagnosed with chronic pain syndrome. Non Coeliac related.

Gluten Ataxia is deemed rare in children and her tTG-6 antibody test was negative.

With all this ruled out she thinks her symptoms are psychological/trauma related which professionals suspect too. She did indeed receive desensitisation therapy last year; this helped to an extent. She is awaiting CAMHs & therapy at present 🙏

It has been a very very long journey for us to find out what was causing her symptoms and many of the wrong dots connected! They didn't add up or make sense - but the medical results speak for themself.

She still struggles everyday. She struggles with fatigue and basic daily tasks.

Hopefully at some point she may be motivated to craft again and engage fully in her creativity if she chooses 🙏

Athena really appreciates your support & the new follows. I am still managing the page for her and I have to apologise for not responding to message requests sooner.

She is going through a really tricky time at the moment but she feels motivated to start making again as she feels able to 🌸

Athena has been low in spirits for quite some time as she battles with her symptoms and the effect it has on her daily living. However, I am hopeful she will get better and I think she is starting to perk up 🙏

For the first time in a while she went into the craft room and made these cute key little key chains! 😊

She still cannot walk unaided but she is soon to see a physio and a neurologist 😊

She wants to do some Craft Fairs when she has some more stamina.

⭐Please help us to raise awareness⭐

Athena hasn't been able to walk now for for over a week after being 'glutened' by a contaminated 'Gluten Free' Pizza made at a Coeliac UK accredited Pizza restaurant. We contacted Coeliac Uk, who were extremely helpful with this matter. They will be in touch with the restaurant to help prevent this risk again.

Episodes like this can last for a month for Athena and this time, it seems more intense.

Athena's case is complex. She experiences neurological symptoms including ataxia and neuropathy in addition to the more commonly known gut symptoms. She also experiences skin symptoms including rashes.

Neurological symptoms in children are thought to be rare/uncommon. The tTG6 antibody is associated with gluten related neurological disorders.

Gluten doesn't just cause the immune system to attack the gut in people with Coeliac disease. It can also attack other healthy tissues including the brain.

Your teacher said she was 'lost for words' and you approach situations with 'such maturity'.... you are always respectful, kind, motivated and dedicated to your work. FYI - for fellow Coeliacs like Athena 🍬🍭

Important Update: Haribo products (Updated 4 March)

We've been made aware of some changes to a small minority of HARIBO products, and we want to ensure our community stays informed.

Haribo UK has informed us that the majority of their UK manufactured products do not contain wheat or other cereals containing gluten as an ingredient and providing they do not have a ‘may contain’ for cereals containing gluten, they are suitable for your gluten free diet.

However, they are currently sourcing some products from Haribo Germany to meet stock demand. Due to differences in manufacturing processes there is a risk of cross contamination and as a precaution, they have added a "may contain traces of milk, wheat" statement on the packaging of these specific products.

Coeliac UK does not recommend that people with coeliac disease consume 'may contain' products. We advise customers to check back of pack labelling for HARIBO products - even if you buy them regularly.

If they have a 'may contain' label, they have been manufactured in Germany and should be avoided by people with coeliac disease. If not, they have been produced in the UK and remain suitable for a gluten free diet
