Blow Pipe Heat Treatment in Ratnapura.
This is a traditional heat treatment method used to alter colour and increase clarity in gemstones, usually before they are cut.

Ideally the fire would be a lot flamier but he was struggling to get things going and I was running out of battery. You get the idea though. Hopefully will see it again next time I visit.

I flipping love learning this new skill, and have a few more stones in the pipeline. Thank heavens for my ever patient teacher, Pushpa. When I start sharing progress videos keep an eye out for her panicked hand grabbing the faceter when I do something unorthodox.
