This one took us back to the bench more times than we’d care to admit.
Seven segments. Each one hand-finished, dimpled scale by dimpled scale, hinged so the body moves the way a trout actually moves - a soft sway between the fingers. Rose gold throughout, with a polished head that catches the light differently from every angle.
The eyes are set deep into the head, nestled in tiny carved sockets - a ruby on one side, an emerald on the other. Two stones, two prongs each, no shortcuts.
It’s the kind of piece you find yourself playing with when you’re thinking. Tactile. Quietly alive

💎✨ Did you know? Working at a De Beers diamond mine wasn’t just a job — it was like living in a high-security prison.

After every shift, miners were searched head to toe. Some even had to walk through X-ray machines because people tried to swallow diamonds and “recover” them later. Toilets were monitored, uniforms had no pockets, and guards checked everything — from boots to bread rolls.

Smugglers got creative: hiding stones in soap, chewing gum, wounds, even inside their own bodies. But De Beers stayed one step ahead.

In the end, only a tiny fraction of diamonds ever slipped through. Security was so tight it became legendary.

So next time you see a sparkling diamond… just imagine the lengths people once went to smuggle one out. 💎🚫
